So long #7, see you in Cooperstown.

Astros lead 3-0 after 4, Bidge has a double (#668) and a run scored, also grounded to short. He is set to lead off the 5th.

Ausmus took the field in full gear to start the 5th, then jogged out to Biggio and gave him a hug, replaced by Towles. Thanks for a damn good career, Brad Ausmus. Loretta also replaced at SS with Burke soon after, letting the crowd appreciate the two veterans. Nice move Coop.

Biggio hit a screaming foul into the left field bleachers, missed a slider, then hits a liner right to the center fielder.

Carlos Lee and Lance Berkman give Biggio love and take bows, replaced by Luke Scott and Mike Lamb.

Brownie with coaching staff announcements. Jackie Moore named Astros bench coach for 2008. Dewey Robinson named pitching coach. Dave Wallace and Doug Mansolino will not return.

Classy move by Mahay, stepping off the mound for a minute so the crowd can acknowledge Bidge.

Wow.  Pig Pen is done playing for our beloved Astros.  Never thought I'd see the day come, but I sure as shit am pleased we had such a quality person representing the Houston Astros Baseball Club for so long.  Only wish he and Baggy could have gotten that ring in '05, but at least Pig Pen played the game the proper way and carried himself with class on and off the field.
My fondest memory will always be Pig Pen cranking the game-winning home run against the hated bravos in '98 at the Dome. I'd never seen the place so raucous.  Just wish larry wayne jones hadn't made that last out on him this afternoon.  Asshole.

I'll miss Craig, but hopefully the younger guys paid attention.

Here's also hoping we'll have a better season next year.

Thanks so much, Craig.  You will be missed.

Since I live in the Southeast, I can only get the Braves' radio on the regular radio.  Joe Simpson was very complimentary of Biggio during the last AB.  It was clear they were moved by the scene and respected Biggio.  I was thrilled that I got to hear the game with my son in the car with me.

Brandon Jones is already the answer to a trivia question in my mind,  he was the right fielder for the Danville Braves in the 2nd play off game in 2004 who missed a Bryan Triplett drive against the wall that allowed the winning run to score.  I will never forget watching him walk in to the 3rd base dugout from right field passing the celebrating Astros at 2nd base.  All of his team mates were already off the field.  That had to be one long, lonely walk.

The starting pitcher for the 2004 G-Astros that night was Troy Patton. Towles was the starting catcher who hit his only HR of the year down the left field line in the 8th to tie the game.

It is great to see these kids who played in Greeneville getting a taste of the bigs.
Always ready to go to a game.

Just back from the game.   What a great send off, largest crowd in MMP history.

They showed a video after the game was over of all of Biggio's memorable moments, set to U2 music, cant remember which U2 song was first, but it finished with Beautiful Day.    Then came the familiar opening of U2's, Where the Streets Have No Name, at which point #7 starts jogging down the 1st baseline and high fiving the fans and then proceeded to take a lap all the way around the stadium waving, high fiving and thanking the fans.   It was fantastic.

Gonna miss that guy.

Can't even wait to get to Cooperstown in 2012 to watch Bagwell introduce Biggio.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Got back to the hotel a few minutes ago.  Today was very emotional, I cried several times.  Bidge is the reason I started watching baseball, so next season will be very weird for me.

Thanks for the memories Bidge, see you in Cooperstown.
