-
Altuve almost made a hell of play.
And yet he didn't. There's nobody that terrifies me more than Simmons in a critical situation.
-
B2:
Simmons grounds to SS, shift on so Altuve has to field it on his backhand...throw gets by Yuli, bounces off the dugout rail...infield shiftfuck single
Cowart grounds into 1-5 FC, Bregman's throw pulls Yuli off the bag as he nonchalantly tries to tag Cowart...ruled safe...Astros challenging, replay shows he's clearly out...1-5-3 double play

Yuli's last hit came last Sunday.

Yuli has driven in a total of 5 runs in September. Bad time for him to be slumping.
-

It's the perfect time for him to be slumping.
-

I doubt the Yankees will let Beltran offer any advice now.
-
Approving nod to Urquidy tonight.
-
Brantley slumping
Yuli slumping
The numbers for September have been grim. Need them both fixed, please.

-
It's the perfect time for him to be slumping.
Because who doesn't want a guy with an .343 OPS in the middle of their lineup in October?
-
We have 2, TWO! hits. And one was really Pujols’ error. And 17 LOB yesterday. This team won’t beat A’s or Rays if they don’t hit, no matter how good the pitching might be.
-
Good grief.
Tucker robbed.
-
Tucker degloves the pitcher and is thrown out.
Mayfield hits an 8 hopper thru the right side hole.
That's baseball.
-
Brantley slumping
Yuli slumping

Brantley is slugging .260 over the last month.

A couple of at ems have resulted in outs
-
Another way to look at it:
After Sunday they won't play again until Friday afternoon. So whi knows how things will carry over?
-
Altuve wtf
-
Dammit.
Altuve frozen by the curve.
-
Because who doesn't want a guy with an .343 OPS in the middle of their lineup in October?
Because he's getting it out of his system.
This whole team is having senioritis right now. They'll be back in October.
-
Uncle Mike!!!!!
3-run shibby!
-
Uncle Mike!
-
UNCLE MIKE!!!!!!!
-
My third favorite Uncle.

But the Astros lead 4-0
-
My third favorite Uncle.
Every time I hear him called Uncle Mike, I think of the song by the Flying Burrito Brothers.
-
An Avunculator (tm) by Brantley!
-
Taking a little time as Chirinos gets hit in the nuts
-
B8:
Harris in
Cowart...0-2...strikes out swinging, 2-3 on the putout
Thaiss...0-2...strikes out swinging
Hermosillo...0-2...strikes out swinging
Immaculate Inning for Harris!!!!
4-0 Astros
-
Add that to the season's pitching highlight reel.
Plus the catcher got racked.
-
Good Will Harris.
Philthy McNasty.
-
T9:
Cahill in for the Angels
Alvarez strikes out looking
Gurriel grounds out 6-3
Chirinos lines out to SS
To the bottom of the 9th...Astros lead 4-0
-
I don't think Alvarez had a decent swing all night.
-
James to pitch 9th. Surprised it’s not Abreu, I think he only threw 6 pitches last night.
-
My third favorite Uncle.
The other two must be pretty damn special.
-
Anyone know the story of Urquidy changing his name?
-
So Brandon Backe threw the 55th Immaculate Inning in baseball history in 2004. Harris's tonight was the 100th. So almost half of all of them in history have been in the last 15 years.
-
B9:
Josh James in to try to close it out...
Bemboom pops out F2 behind the plate
Fletcher flies out F7
La Stella flies out F8
Astros win, secure #1 seed in the AL!!!
4-0 is your final
-
The other two must be pretty damn special.
They are. One taught me how to play trumpet, the other taught me how to ride a horse.
-
Angels had three hits tonight...all of them shiftfuck singles, two which didn't leave the infield. They did not have a runner reach 2B.
-

I think a few of them had been thrown against the Keystone Astros.
-
105
#1 Seed in the AL
Uncle Mike 3 run Jack
Bregxit #41
6 shutout innings from Urquidy
Immaculate inning from Harris
Spotless bullpen
Well done, GZ. Well done.

How many more Ks would strikeout artists of prior eras (Ryan, Richard, the Big Unit) have had in the true outcomes age?

This from McTaggart:

Get this: Astros' last three wins have been shutouts & they haven't allowed a runner reach 3B in any of them. Angels didn't have a runner reach 2B tonight.

Just read the GZ on a train from Munich to Paris. So much wailing and hand-wringing. This team will be ready in October.

sounds like a nice trip. I love train travel. We did the Rocky Mountaineer trip through the Canadian Rockies a few years ago. What a way to travel.

I've been considering doing that. I assume you'd recommend it? What time of season did you go?

Berlin to Budapest is great. Mountain passes, rIver gorges, picturesque villages, medieval castles and so much more.

Milan to Basel to Cologne is spectacular for the same reasons.

We did the Canadian Rockies early summer IIRC. Flew into Vancouver to catch it and tacked a couple of days at the end of our trip in Banff. Drove to Calgary to catch a flight home. I recommend it for those that can enjoy being in a comfortable seat and looking out the window for hours at a time. You can go out to the rear of the car, which I did often, and get some air and less obstructed views. The food on the train is very good, too. We paid extra to sit in a dining car for the meals which really is just lunch and something light for breakfast. By dinner we were off of the train and in a town where we were put up in lodging.
-
Train from Vancouver to Halifax with stops along the way is great.
-
I think that Switzerland provides the best European train experience. Hard to imagine a better trip than St. Moritz to Zermatt unless it is the Jungfraujoch loop. I also recommend the Chunnel - not sure why, it felt wierd

Geneva to Vienna via Lichtenstein and through the Inn valley is spectacular.
