Strike three to Springer was well off the plate, and quite the change from the doughnut  yesterday.

B1:

Deshields grounds out 6-3
Gallo...only three outfielders, but extreme infield shift...bloops a single to LCF.
Andrus...0-2...2-1on a check swing...2-2...3-2...runner moving...grounds up the middle, Correa moving to cover the bag fields it right behind 2B, flips to Altuve, who makes a great turn coming across the bag and throws to 1B to complete the 6-4-3 twin killing.  Put a blue star by that one!

No score after one.

B2:

Beltre bounces out to the mound, 1-3, on a nice grab by Keuchel
Mazara homers to CF
Choo bloops a single to CF...Correa looked fooled a bit, didn't get much of a jump on it.
Chirinos...full count...Choo on the move...chops to 3B, Bregman goes to 2B, Choo goes in standing and is out as Altuve has to throw around him...bounces the throw, but Marwin gets it on the big hop for the inning ending 5-4-3 double play.

1-0 Rangers

This infield is fun to watch.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

B4:

Beltre doubles down the LF line past a diving Bregman
Mazara...3-0...walks...Keuchel pitched him very carefully
Choo...quickly 0-2...1-2...singles up the middle, Beltre to 3B, Mazara to 2B
Chirinos flies out to deep RF on the first pitch...Beltre scores, Mazara to 3B
Odor...0-2...1-2...2-2...full up...foul...foul...flies out F9, Mazra scores
Rua grounds out 6-3...as Correa makes a nice play from deep in the ole...

But Rangers punch two across...lead 3-0

Gattis slices a double to RF
Fisher...works the count full...strikes out looking at a meatball right down the middle
Stassi doubles over CFer's head...Gattis scores
Springer flies out F8...just missed that one
Reddick taps back to the mound....1-3

3-1 Rangers

B5:

Deshields rolls one up the 3B line...Bregman with a great barehanded pickup and gets him at 1B
Gallo...showing bunt...takes ball one...takes strike two...now swinging...1-2...2-2...strikes out swinging
Andrus rolls one up the 3B line...Bregman with another great bare hand, but can't get Andrus
Andrus to 2B on a wild pitch that Stassi reached for instead of dropping and blocking
Beltre lines out to 1B

3-1 Rangers

Fister out...Martin in for the Rangers

Altuve hits a bullet to RF...Mazara backs up, then drops to his knees and comes up with it...ruled a trap...but Rangers challenging...looks like a catch...not enough to overturn, but that's never stopped them in NY...here comes the ruling...whaddya know...upheld, single for Jose
Correa...0-2..1--2..strikes out swinging at a piitch 2 feet off the plate
Bregman...0-2, despite what Kalas says...1-2...grounds up the middle...Andrus fields it, flips to Odor, but it pulls him off the bag, Odor throws it into the dugout...Altuve scores and Bregman to 2B...Rangers challenging something...looks like Bregman never touched 1B...who knows...here's the call...safe all around, but Altuve has to go back to 3B...Altuve to 3B, Bregman to 2B
Marwin...infield back...3-1...full up...walks...bases drunk
Gattis takes a couple of meatballs, strikes out swinging at a pitch in the dirt

That's all for Martin...Claudio in

Davis, pinch hitting for Fisher...swinging at pitches off the plate...2-2...strikes out swinging...not a single pitch within 8 inches of the plate

Astros leave the bases loaded...3-1 Rangers

What a shit inning.   Two huge breaks, bases loaded, one out...can't put a ball in play, taking pitches right down the middle, swinging at shit in the dirt.

He pitched OK.  Couldn't get the groundballs when he needed them, but not a bad outing.  Astros need to score more runs.

Joe Smith...making his Astros debut...

Odor smashes one to Altuve, who knocks it right to Correa...the ol' 4-6-3 groundout
Rua...0-2...flies out F9 on a nice running grab by Reddick.
Deshields walks
Gallo lines a double off the top of the CF wall, Deshields scores
Andrus ...0-2...singles to LF, Andrus scores, Marwin throws the ball against the fence allowing Andrus to get to 2B...TE-7
Beltre strikes out swinging

But the Rangers get two more, all with two outs...lead 5-1

Bannister seems to get unlimited reviews and two challenges per game.

You're supposed to get only one challenge for the first six innings.  Banister got two in the 6th inning alone.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

That was so fucked.
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

On the plus side Stassi stung the ball a couple of times and Rondon didn't give up a run.

I have been looking forward to big things from Joe Smith. I hope last night was an aberration.

The Deshields AB was just terrible.

Even if he hadn't hurt his hand, you can't walk him.

BBGs made us pay for that.

The whole umpiring crew was horrible.  Not sure what was going on there.

Putting Altuve back at third was complete bullshit.
