I love the free game of the day, but I'm travelling! Drat.

Nice. Second righty in a row that Shreefer is warming the bench

I think that he's a goner for sure. Luhnow et al. want to wipe that stain off the windshield and chalk it up to a poor trade by a predecessor.
-
Wow. They brought up Marte.
So long, Jose Tabata.
-
Wow. They brought up Marte.
So long, Jose Tabata.
Tabata is clueless. He's dogging it in AAA, not running hard for balls or running the bases hard. I read a pretty pointed criticism of him down there on Sulia either yesterday or the day before.
-
WTF? First pitch, first at-bat in the majors for this kid, and he knocks a friggin' homer. Jay-zus.
-
One pitch might be all they need.
-
Marte takes the first meatball offering from Keuchel and takes it outt of the yard. Welcome to the big leagues, kid. That's got to be pretty rare: a leadoff home run on the first pitch of the ballgame for a big league debut. That's a first for me.
-
Another meatball from Keuchel. It's 3-0 already.
-
I thought they traded Happ?
-
I hate to be the broken record but where's Wallace?
-
Everything was down and away to Alvarez. Poor kid is already scared. It's going to be another long game for our tenth loss in a row. Shitfuck. 2-24 in the last 26. That's fucking futility.
-
I've seen enough of Keuchel.
-
Not that deep, Brownie.
-
Last night in the booth Milo was trying to get Luhnow to say that Owens would be up soon. Luhnow wouldn't commit to anything other than putting him at OKC so they could get a look at him, but he did say they hoped he could help them out this year.
-
Guess who's got the recap tonight? Yep, lucky me.
-
Guess who's got the recap tonight? Yep, lucky me.
And a fine one it'll be too.
Perhaps in haiku form?

Milo is gone at the end of this season?
-
How long until there's absolutely zero people in the stadium?
-
Milo is gone at the end of this season?
Yep. Except for whatever 'special occasions' they trot him out for.
-
Dear God, 3 home runs and 5 on the board in the top of the 2nd with no outs... wow.
-
How long until there's absolutely zero people in the stadium?
On Facebook the Astros advertised a sale of Authentic merchandise tomorrow night. Game worn shooting star uniforms for $50, jackets for $25, bats, balls, etc. only available in the shop at the game. I don't know what time they would start, presumably when the stadium doors open.
I'd go ape in there at those prices, but I can't make it. If the crowds are going to be tiny, seems like anyone would have a better shot at catching a nice deal if they're interested.
-
This is embarassing. This is supposed to be a big league pitcher. He's anything but right now. 5-0
-
Barmes needed the help before he gets released.
-
Can the trade deadline hurry up and get here so they can bring up the second half team?
-

Fuck me. I want one of the shooting star and Colt 45 jerseys.
-
Bogusevic wants every chance, doesn't he? That was clearly Maxwell's ball.
-
Fuck me. I want one of the shooting star and Colt 45 jerseys.
I'm wrong, they are the rainbow shoulder ones. Still great, still want.
-
I don't think they will almost win this one.

No, no, have faith. JD just announced the change in plans from the previous 9 games... we're lulling 'em into a false sense of security, then we're gonna come back and ambush 'em! Never in the last 9 games have the Astros been down 5-0 after an inning and a half!
-
I don't think they will almost win this one.
I don't think they'll almost win this one if A. J. Burnett turns into Francisco Cordero.
-
Hey everybody! Burnett is throwing a no-hitter!
-
I'm wrong, they are the rainbow shoulder ones. Still great, still want.
I have one of those, even though it has the Old Man's name on the back. I STILL WEAR IT. I'm in a Jim Bouton Seattle Pilots jersey today.
-

SWEET!
Beaver shot, two o'clock.
-
Well, he's keeping it down now.

Ok, maybe not.
He's keeping it in the yard now.

Mr Happy, here are some potential headlines for your recap:

Succeeding at Under Achieving
The Drive Towards Mediocrity
Hope is for Losers
We Don’t Need A Rear-view Mirror

Here is Where You Don’t Want To Be
Standing in the Shadows of Everyone
Does This Train Go Anywhere
Burn Baby Burnett
-
Hey, what do you know, Mr. Happy? A three up three down inning for Keuchel. I predict that it will be his only one, because I don't see him in this game in the fifth.

Do I know how to win? No, but if you hum a few bars I can fake it.

I'll bring the Doritos.

Hey, how to get to Minute Maid Park?
Attrition, attrition, attrition.
-
So, simulated game for Keuchel before the real game starts? Let him get pasted for five or six and then the real game starts, so he can settle down?
Naahhhh.
-
Sigh... guess I should get away from the computer and the game and go see about making dinner. It's not looking like I'll be missing anything spectacular in the meantime.

Nah. Stick with the game. They'll feed themselves if they get hungry.

Tale of two pitchers for Keuchel so far.

Pizza Hut.
-
Anyone see the recent picture of Barry bonds all slimmed down back to his Pirate size?
-
No!

Amazing. That's what he used to look like. Bastard.
-
I convinced they will never learn how to properly execute a rundown, but they got him.
-
I met him at a McDonald's in Austin after a UT game. The team had stopped there to eat and I spoke to him and the real star of the day, Oddibe McDowell. They were pleasant kids, not jerks at all.

After watching him at OKC where he hit .400, I thought Oddibe McDowell was going to be a great major league player.
-

I see him periodically on television out here, and he looks totally different.
-
Burnett is sneaky fast. He can still hit 93 regularly. You forget about that to your peril as a hitter.

He was supposed to be the Second Coming of Willie Mays. Barry Bonds was a guy who would never live up to his father's accomplishments.
Ha.

I remember the Rangers had McDowell and Incaviglia in their outfield. Both absolutely killed it in college. MLB pitchers and wooden bats have been the ruin of many a poor college phenoms.
-
Brett Wallace hit his 15th homer tonight.
-
Are the Astros winning? I'm going to be pissed if I missed a win.
-
Brett Wallace hit his 15th homer tonight.
His place in this organization is ponderous.
-
Are the Astros winning?
Not by most standards. But they are winning last place quite well.
-
I think I see my HS shop teacher in the stands behind third. Mr. Wellsey. For some reason everyone called him 'Mr. Fuckerhead'.

Is it too soon to start talking about that first round pick next year?

You're late to that party. The Bus Ride is al over it.

No sandwiches mom
That was for lunch. Dinner is spaghetti with meat-and-Italian-sausage sauce and salad.
Brownie just said the Marlins are about to blow up their team? Surely they can't be as bad as our crew.
Edit: My iPad doesn't allow me to type occasionally.
-

oh fun!

I know how to do the spaghetti out of a can, but ... is there such a thing as canned salad?
-

My local farmer's markets don't carry it. Perhaps that's available in London, right next to the "authentic" American hot dogs jarred, in brine, that I saw in March.

They do that every so often, but it's usually after they've won a World Series. This one is way different.

The British know what to do with a sausage.
-
Another broken bat for Garrett.
-
Cedeno was impressive, as was EDR with that strike out looking against SUPERMAN.
-
cj GOES DEEP TO LEAD OFF THE INNING
-
Hey! A home run! Spaghetti for everyone!
-
His value will never be higher.
-
It is unlikely that Cedeno is great shakes, but with all the shit they have trotted from the pen to the mound throughout this last month, I never understood why he was down in AAA. He saved them from the potentially embarrassing 9th inning meltdown loss to KC, then they rewarded him by sending him down.
There is an official blog of Dave Raymond? Ain't the Internet great.
-
Yet another ground ball to the right side. Sigh. Bogusevic sucks.
-

Out, damned spot.

I WOULDN'T EVEN LOOK FOR THAT. And I certainly won't read it.
-
And... It's gone!
Bye-bye, Burnett.
-
Burnett is done after the solo shot from Corporan, who's hit pretty well since returning.
-
They are trying to get it to a save situation for Hanrahan.
-

If they have the tying run up after the seventh inning, I think management counts it as a W.
-
Instead of cutting off alcohol sales after the 7th, they should lower beers to half price for the rest of the game. Anyone that buys a ticket to this traveling shit show deserves to get well lubed in the process.
-
The tension is killing me.

Not a bad idea. E-mail Lucas with that one.

i think CEDENO HAS A REAL CHANCE AT A LONG CAREER AS A MAJOR LEAGUE RELIEVER.

Is my sarc-mater supposed to react to that remark? I like Cedeno but am not willing to commit as far as you seem to be.
-
It's nice to see somebody else's closer fucking up.
-
And now it's up to Bogusevic.
-
And now it's up to Bogusevic.
Or not.
-
• Ten straight
• 10
• X
• 34-66 (.340)
• On track for 55 wins now
• My 51 in the free lid thing is beginning to look possible.
• Go, Astros, Go. Root, Root, Root. Free lid.
-
And Bogusevic strikes out to end it. 5-3 BALLGAME
-
Your 2012 Astros. So it goes.

I do like Cedeño and I do think he can stick around in the bigs.

Oh, I absolutely agree. he proved his value to me when he came in and saved that game against the Royals. I like his stuff. I also like what I've seen lately from Abad. I think that both Abad and Cedeno have more upside than WW. What do you think?
-
Worst record of all time is becoming realistic. Might get some fans to the stadium a la the Tigers in 03.

Becoming??? This has been going on since we were 22-23 (since then 12-43 and 2-25 over the last 27). What are you trying to do? Master the obvious?
