I get why you'd say that because he's the enabler, but does a lame duck Dodds count for much if boosters decide they want Brown out at year-end?

No. It doesn't matter though, because Brown is gone after this season.

Let's see what happens in Dallas on 10/12.  If they get embarrased again then I agree.

Wrong-o, Waldo.  New AD in place by December = Mack gone in January.

My best case scenario right now is a win over OU, followed by Mack announcing his retirement, effective after the bowl game.

Dodds will be in a "consulting" role.  Luck will be here by December.

You think Luck will leave West Virginia?  That was his alma mater.

Didn't see the part about having a replacement by December.  Here's hoping.

So, a "10 people" article that only has 5 real candidates on it?

I thought it only had one.

Both he and Mack did wonderful things for the University and should be remembered that way, not for what has happened in the last year or two.

I can't see how anyone paying attention over the last thirty years could bad mouth him.

Because most people don't have the attention span of 30 days, much less 30 years.

Supposedly it's Luck

http://college-football.si.com/2013/10/28/oliver-luck-expected-texas-athletic-director/?sct=hp_t2_a14&eref=sihp

So it's Luck even though the advisory committee has yet to interview anyone?

Oh, gotcha...rubber stamp.

That is a very interesting turn-of-events.

My wife's reaction was "that's too bad". That confused me, so I asked why. Because he hired Todd Graham, she said, and that's a red flag. And she's got a point.

Patterson was the athletic department COO at the time, and the Graham hire didn't exactly happen under the best circumstances.  From a poster on Shaggy:

Quote
[Lisa Love, AD at the time] was in trouble because of the football team sucking, but they weren't planning on firing her (or else they'd have never let her hire the most important employee on her way out in the first place) until they saw how poorly it went. ASU went after Sumlin, aTm got him. And then... Nothing. Love didn't have a plan B, which lead to them accepting help from Eastman & Beaudine. Beaudine, coincidentally, had given ASU a few bucks but is an SMU alum. Love fell for it hook line and sinker and was about to hire June Jones and his buyout from SMU, clearing them up to take another shot at a splash hire and letting them get rid of all the June Jones baggage.

Love then had a mutiny from the boosters and basically lost control of the athletic department. The University President stepped in, Patterson became more involved and the search moved on, but the June Jones thing was the incident that lead to Love being fired later in 2011.

Lots of coaches move.  None do it with as much obvious disdain for social norms or general manners as Todd Graham.

There is also a rumor that Luck refused to be a "hatchet man", at least where Brown was concerned.

Patterson told ASU that he turned us down 5 times before accepting.

Me too.  I was going to be happy with either.

Want to see him hire a good basketball coach (I personally believe Augie, with his skins on the wall and the recruiting class he just brought in, deserves more time).

Hopefully, Patterson can get the LHN on one of the satellite providers soon.  There have been rumors about Dish.

I can see it both ways.  One could argue the point of "Why should I have to clean up the shit you left on your desk for 4 years?"
