With Devo not looking viable, we really need James to step up.

How hard was Bielak throwing?
Saw him last outing and he was 95 often. Another grouping at 92/93. Maybe a 4-Seamer and a 2-seamer?

I was listening on the radio after the top of the 7th, and the bottom of the 8th featured high and tight pitches, a warning to both benches, ejections, and near fights. SA v. RR is a bitter rivalry which goes all the way back to RR’s Texas League days, and SA did not like losing 3 of 4 with only one series to play. RR still has to win one or two (not sure of the magic number), but the Express caught and passed SA in the last ten days or two weeks after trailing for most of the season.

ETA: magic number is one. RR is in Omaha.

Wondered about the long delay - much more time than just a pitching changes.  A few guys left the game early.

Glad no one was hurt.

Listening on the radio would have eliminated your confusion. The fireworks were in the bottom of the 8th.

This makes me wonder -- what keeps long-lasting rivalries going in the minors? It seems with players, coaches, even affiliations changing so frequently, that there might not be enough continuity over the course of years to keep a rivalry stoked.

In this case, proximity.  The Missions and Hooks had some fun series after RR moved to AAA in '05.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Other than proximity, I guess one big constant is the front offices and the PR/marketing departments that drum up the rivalry.

This is good.  95 often is not where he was when he was drafted out of Notre Dame two years ago.  He was sometimes touching 95 at that time.  His knocks were no real out pitch and too many walks.  It looks like he's walking about 2 batters a game, but as he's striking out a batter an inning perhaps he's developed a real out pitch.

The organizations do not like each other. No “drumming up” needed.

ETA: The aggressive  circus in the 8th last night was started and kept going by SA pitcher Jimmy Nelson who is a MLB player on injury rehab. He threw two consecutive pitches at Tanielu’s head.
