Astros give up three runs in top of first after two outs. Just awful - again.
-
Cubs v. Pirates on my FOX channel, but Astros still blacked out on MLB.TV. These days, who wants to watch.

-
I guess everyone who was in the GZ last night is too hungover to show up today.
At this point I would consider it a triumph if the Astros finished above .500.
-
I'm at the new Gatlin's bbq. They've got college football on the tv. Cc hr.
-
Tater for Correa to make it 1-3.

Centerville
A real nice place to raise your kids up
Centerville
It's really neat!

@darenw: Carlos Correa's home run was hit 109 MPH... His 3rd hardest HR of the year.

I think that takes him ahead of Thon for most HRs by an Astros SS.
-
Neil, quick, check your closet and make sure you still have all your bowties.
-
Is correa wearing a bow tie?
-

I think it ties them.
-
Well dang. He is wearing a bow tie.
-
Gotta give that run back quick as you get it.
-
Finally the Astros hit one that ricochets off a Ranger fielder's glove and does not result in an out

Now he's ahead. Tied with Berkman for all position players.

Correa's second HR of the day, which ties him with Puma for the all-time rookie club record of 21.

This may be the most emotion I've ever seen Berman express via tweet:
@MarkBermanFox26: CRAZINESS. Carlos Correa does it again! 2-run shot....game tied at 4 (3)

Hinch is a sharp dude. When considering manager of the year, I think having a team that overachieved like the Astros have makes a strong case for Hinch. Hell, the Rangers have underachieved, they should be 25 games over .500 with that roster.

Holland has a funny looking face.

Thanks for the jinx, Fox.

The Rangers have gone from worst to first. How is Bannister not MOY?

I'm afraid Bannister has surpassed Hinch in the last 3 weeks. Just like . . . Excuse me while i go vomit.

Thats's what I've been saying. He is nowhere near as good as he will eventually be if he stays healthy.

This is the first time in 46 innings against the Rangers that we have held the lead at the end of an inning.

SIPPERSTAR!!!

Astros now up 6-4 after a Gattis sac fly on a shallow fly ball scores Correa. DeShields' weak-ass throw allows Lowrie to take 2nd.

No idea why Marwin sacrifice bunting with 1 out and a runner on second.

I'm standing here minding my own business chopping garlic thinking, You know, out of the eleven guys on the team who hit .220 and strike out all the goddamn time Rasmussen tends to give you the best at bats. Then BLAMMO.

And I was thinking earlier "It's been a while since Rasmus hit one of those big clutch home runs he seems to have a knack for."
What're you cooking?

Agreed. W.T.F?
Radio guys speculating that the P Gonzalez is a poor fielder.

They tanked last year. Their so damn good if they kept Bogar they would be 35-40 games over .500 by now. Banister has held them back. He's a cocksucker.

Yeah, he's got a lot of talent to work with, although they did lose Darvish for the season. Last year they lost everybody for the season; that's why they finished last.

Altuuuuuve!

Jose jacks one to the first row of the Crawfords. 9-4 Astros.

I was preparing a Thai-ish marinade for some chicken wings I'm going to grill.

6 HRs a season high for the Astros this year.

Correa Ks but the pitch gets away and he reaches for the 5th time in 5 ABs.

So does Hinch use Gregerson for the 5-run lead, or save him for upcoming games? Fields?

Yes, same damn haircut.

It's September 26th. You don't save anyone for anything
-
More like Paula Poundstone.
Wow, good call. Although you have to wonder why she would be prominent enough in your consciousness to call her up like that.
-

Clearly, Hinch agrees. And considering how the rest of the 'pen has pitched of late, can't say I blame him.
-

Let's just say a waterbed and Wesson oil and leave it at that.
-
What makes it Thai-ish?
Nuoc mam and rat shit chiles mostly. When you're in Thailand where do you eat?

You know, I was going to stray into that territory but somehow I knew I wouldn't have to.

Are waterbeds still manufactured?

Depends. In Bangkok a lot of local Thai Restaurants, but also good Indian and Italian foods. Ocassionally some street food. Lots of good local restaurants down my the river.
-
This is not fucking happening.
-
Gah. This fucking inning.
-
Alright, guys. Stop fucking this up.
-
Motherfuck!! 3 runs with 2 outs in the top of the 9th. 9-7 Astros with 2 outs.
-
Jeezus motherfucking christ.
-
Winning run at the plate, as Gregerson is done.
-
Goddammit!!!
-
Wow. Gregerson meltdown with Hinch.
-
Is there a way to find out the Astros BAA with 2 outs? It has to be ridiculous.
-
He's understandably upset with himself.
-
Wow. Gregerson meltdown with Hinch.
He should shut the fuck up and go sit down. He was a total abomination.
-

I think earlier they mentioned that only three of the Rangers hits this game have come with less than two outs.
-
The arrival of Harris fills me with confidence.Do we get the pre-September Harris, of the September Harris?
-
Whew. I didn't need that drama.
-
That was more exciting than it needed to be.
-
Jeez, this team.

I need a drink.

I wonder how much of the clubhouse Gregerson has destroyed.

81 was the win total I'd hoped for when the season started. The rest for me now is gravy.

Yes, more John Tudor than Dick Allen.

Tonight's most intriguing matchups:
Twins vs. Tigers, 6:08pm CT
Duffey (4-1, 3.15) vs. Simon (13-10, 5.21 ERA)
Let's hope Brad pulls out all the stops for this win.
Mariners vs. Angels, 8:05pm ET
F. Hernandez (18-9, 3.54) vs. Heaney (6-3, 3.30 ERA)
Let's go King Felix.
-
For me, since the Gomez pickup, it has been anything less than a wild card will be a disappointment with the hope on the division.
Edit:
And even though the division is likely out of reach at this point, I think tomorrow's game is huge. We will need Texas giving everything they got against the Angels next week.
-
Nice win, but the bullpen still stinks like shit on a skillet.

Four of the five relievers pitched well today.
-
I got curious about King Felix' numbers vs. Trout. Unfortunately Trout has killed him: .349/.377/.651 with 4 HR in 63 ABs. David Murphy has also done well (.294, 4 HR in 85 ABs), so has DeJesus (.317/.391/.488 in 41 ABs). But most of the other current Angels have struggled - Calhoun, Freese, Cron, and Ianetta are a combined 5-for-87 lifetime (an .057 AVG). Pujols is .196/.226/.353 in 51 ABs.
Overall, current Angels have hit .212/.268/.352 vs. Felix.
Neither Alfredo Simon's season stats nor his stats vs. the Twins give any reason for optimism in that game.

Sipp was huge. Perez also looked really good.

Ha, now that makes sense. I'm an idiot. Same style though.

This. They're 4 games back with 7 to play. The must win for any real shot at the division was last night. They stepped on their dicks. Now you just don't want the Rangers sandbagging next week against the Angels.

what happened to Gomez?

Yes, beautiful Art Deco designs. Not sure why you think they are ugly.

He's hurt. Has been for a couple of weeks.

Strained oblique a couple of weeks ago. Predictably slow recovery.

Sorry, I know he's hurt. I was just wondering what, and how long. Got it, strained oblique, slow recovery.

I stood in line at the City Hall building to get my marriage license in '79. A line, and I was working on a programming project on the back of an envelope. Do people even have to do that anymore?

When Mrs. Hawk and I went to get our marriage license in 2002, we spent more time convincing the clerk that neither of us had been married before than we did in line. The first thing the clerk said to us was "OK, I'll need to see both your divorce decrees". We said "neither of us have been married". She looked at us and said "seriously, I can't issue you a license until you're both legally divorced." Only after five or six more clarifying questions would she proceed. The idea of two 35-year olds getting married for the first time was beyond her comprehension.
-
One of the reasons I got married in Florida is that here or in Colombia they demand a certificado de solterÃa. From my home state. I'm like, Yo, we don't do those. That's not really the answer they were looking for.

Mike Trout made a rather spectacular catch to rob Jesus Montero and the Mariners of a 3-run homer tonight. Kept the score at 2-1 M's. Now 2-2 in the 8th. This one will get replayed a lot.
-
I thought this catch (http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/73955164/v502563183/balbos-betts-goes-83-feet-to-make-a-great-catch) by Mookie Betts had to be the best of the day, then I saw this catch (http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/73955164/v504480983/sealaa-trout-has-97-route-efficiency-in-great-grab) by Mike Trout. Wow.

No doubt. I believe my mind's eye was seeing the Ezekiel W Cullen Building but my mind is always playing tricks on me, so maybe it was the Roy G Cullen building.
