Lexington lost the final game in Asheville 6-5 when their ninth inning rally came up short. The heart of the line up let the Legends down. Delome, Barnes and Sapp went 1 for 13 with 8 strike outs. Brandon Barnes wore the golden sombrero with 4 k’s.

Salem

Lost the final game of their series with the P-Nats, 6-1. Chris Salamida struggled in his piggy back role and the Avs couldn’t seem to hit Ross Detwiler.

“Our offense is struggling even though we won the first two games,” Pankovits said. “I don’t think we’ve really swung the bats the way we’re capable of.”

Corpus Christi

Hooks are now 4-0 after their 6-1 win over the Ark. Naturals Sunday. Ole Sheldon had 3 RBI’s in his first start of the season.

Sheldon said. “They’re going to come after you there. You feel comfortable at the plate and your eyes get real big, you kind of sit on the ball and take a nice healthy rip and hope for the best there.

“It’s just nice (to contribute). I felt like I worked extremely hard in the offseason and (spring training). And when Pujols calls my name, I’ll be ready to rock and roll and hit balls hard. We’ll stay as prepared as we can and control what we can control.”

Round Rock

Fernando Nieve showed he is making progress back from his injury with 5 innings of 1 hit ball with no walks and 5 strikeouts, in his first start since his surgery. The Express finished their series with the I-Cubs with a 5-0 shutout.

“He didn’t throw a lot of off-speed pitches,” said (Cub’s Eric) Patterson, who finished 2007 with a five-game hitting streak, then added hits in each of the first three games this season. “He threw mostly fastballs that we, for some reason, couldn’t catch up to.”
