Chad Reineke lasted only 3 1/3 innings for the second consecutive start. The Express couldn’t dig out of the hole and lost 6-1.

Corpus Christi

Brian Bogusevic pitched six solid innings but got no decision. New acquisition, Jose Oyervidez, was the man of the hour putting out the 2 on, nobody out fire in the 9th with only 6 pitches to preserve a 3-2 win.

The Hooks bats are warming up and a few are even streaking:

Manzella (five), Paz (six), outfielder Ray Sadler (four) and Sutton (six) extended hitting streaks on Tuesday. Sutton, who is batting .375, has hits in all 11 of his starts.

Salem

The Av’s are nothing if not competitive. Five of Salem’s six wins have been by one run. So have 4 of their 5 loses. Last night it was one of the loss variety. Polin Trinidad pitched 6 perfect innings, then he came out for the 7th and ran out of gas. In the 7th he sandwiched a double between two walks to load the bases with no one out. He was relieved by Jason Dominguez who walked in a run and surrendered a sac fly to tie the game up at 2. Fredrick scored in the 12th for the victory.

Trinidad was very effective according to the Key’s players:

“He kept on pounding his fastball inside and we couldn’t do anything with it,” Davison said.

Lexington

The Legends took advantage of some Crawdad errors in the first to build a 3-0 lead. They held on for the 6-4 win. Carlos Ladeuth got his first win of the season going six innings allowing only one earned run on six hits, one walk with six strike outs. Matt Cusick hit his second home and his forth double of the season during the game. Brandon Barnes is struggling in a mighty way. He went 0-4 with 4K’s last night bringing him to 20K’s in 36 AB.

CC Hooks Go To 5-0, Lex & RR Lose http://www.orangewhoopass.com/2008/04/08/cc-hooks-go-to-5-0-lex-rr-lose/ Tue, 08 Apr 2008 12:50:18 +0000 http://www.spikesnstars.com/?p=865 Corpus Christi

Hooks go to 5-0 with a 8-7 12 inning win over Arkansas. Rob Crosby hit a solo homer in the 9th to tie the game and Eli Iorg had the game winning hit in the 12th.

“We’ve just got a great bunch of great guys who like to play baseball hard and don’t like to lose,” Iorg said. “When that’s the feeling in the clubhouse and the dugout, you win games.”

The bullpen held the game in check for the late inning heroics. Brian Gordon, Ryan McKeller, Evan Englebrook and Chris Blazek combined for 8 innings of one run ball.

“I’ve got to give credit to the bullpen — they did a great job today,” manager Luis Pujols said. “That’s a hell of a job.

“We got some good pitching out of the bullpen and the hitters did a great job — they never gave up.”

Lexington

The Legends lost their home opener 6-3. Anthony Bello pitched pretty well but manager Greg Langbahn found plenty to be disappointed with.

“I liked the fact we were up 2-0 heading into the fifth. I didn’t like the way we played defensively,” Langbehn said. “We were really sloppy, which was disappointing. We just gave them too many extra outs.

“Offensively, I was a little disappointed. I didn’t think we competed overly well at times. Just took a lot of hittable pitches and got ourselves deep into counts and didn’t have good at-bats. … I was pleased with how Bello threw the ball.”

Colin Delome & Steve Brown had solo home runs in the game. Four of the five Legends hits went for extra bases.

Roster Move: Left-hander Jeff Icenogle (calf) is on the disabled list. Right-hander Jacob Leonhardt, up from extended spring training, takes the roster spot and is scheduled to start Wednesday.

Round Rock

Round Rock lost to Omaha 7-5. Chad Reineke gave up 6 earned runs in 3 1/3 innings for the loss.

Reineke interview http://www.orangewhoopass.com/2007/12/10/reineke-interview/ Mon, 10 Dec 2007 21:57:13 +0000 http://www.orangewhoopass.com/docs/2007/12/10/reineke-interview/ His hometown paper caught up with him.  Here is what he had to say:

Quote

“Overall I was happy,” admitted Reineke of the Fall League. “It’s a tough league for pitchers with the layoff from the season until the Fall League begins. You have to kind of shake off the rust and it was good to be out there against the talent that is there.”

On joining the 40 man roster

Quote

“A lot of guys at this level don’t really care what club they’re with, but I really like the Astros. Hopefully someday I’ll make it (to the big leagues) with them. It’s an honor, but by no means is the end. I know I have a long ways to go….”Honestly it was about 50/50 if they would,” added Reineke about the Astros purchasing his contract. “I understand the business side of baseball and I’m 25 and getting to the age where it’s time to do something.”

On off season workouts:

“Right now I’m just working out and resting my arm and getting the tendenitis out and the rest has helped,” said Reineke. “I’m trying to get my legs in shape and building up my endurance.”
