ODELAY (SnS) – Giving further proof that the team has apparently gone and collectively forgot what it learned in high school physics class, the punchless Houston Astros lost their fifth consecutive game tonight, falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers here, 6-1. The Astros did not apply any positive force on offense, and apparently learned their defense from Frank McCourt’s divorce attorneys, having failed to grasp the basic concept of what-goes-up, must-come-down. Somewhere.

Space guy fell from the sky
Scratched my head and wondered why
Time slide into time
Across the International Date Line

Wandy Rodriguez once again gave a solid effort for the visiting team, to no avail. After an error on Carlos Lee on the first Dodger batter, Wandy wiggled around and got two outs, before giving up a two-run bomb the LA superstar Shawn Kemp in the bottom of the first inning. That was essentially it, as Dodger ace Clayton Kershaw sliced through the Astros offense like warm butter in notching his fourteenth win of the season. Along the way there was more defensive ineptitude to ensue, and a hole where the offense is supposed to be, but who wants to revisit that?

Increasingly clueless-appearing Astros manager Brad Mills was left spouting empty bromides after the game:

• “There were a lot of things that really don’t happen at this level, and we’ve got to address a lot of it.”
• “Anytime you give teams extra outs or 90 feet, you’re not gonna get it done, and they’re magnified anytime you’re not able to score the runs.”
• “(Sloppy play) was something that we talked about on the bench during the game, and we’ll talk about it more later. We need to see the mindset of what happened and why they happened.”

Just another way of saying, “We’ll go get ‘em tomorrow”, I guess.

Ritual ideas, relativity
Only buildings, no people, prophecy
Time slide, place to hide, nudge reality
Foresight, mind’s wide, magic imagery
