The TZ annual post-season "X-Factor" Game
« on: October 04, 2005, 10:05:30 pm »
Since the mud and blood have been good enough to supply the local nine fans with playoff biesbol for a very long time, it has become a tradition in the TZ to pick the X-factor player.

Or as we commonly refer to it, the Mark Lemke Award.

Anyway, last year, the winner could've been either Brandon Backe or Dan Wheeler (my pick would've been Backe).  So it's time to submit your pre-playoff pick for this year's X-factor award.

My pick: Jason Lane.

Of course, that will probably ruin his chances.

No way is Lane or Lamb an X factor, these are the guys theyr'e going to count on.  Everett's the guy.  I see a crucial double down the line at some point.  Not to mention a whirling play on Furcal up the middle.

If it's a whirling play on Furcal up the middle, then they'll be no play at all.  Furcal's to fast.

Furcal scares me...he will be the Braves X factor

only to be trumped by

Willy T. and his amazing bunts, bloops and speed
and at least 4 great fielding plays for the series
Remember Jesus Alou being called out of the 1st base coaching box to pinch-hit a double vs. the Reds in '79 I think, to win a crucial game, and he patted Morgan on top of the head (ala Benny Hill w/the little bald guy) and Little Joe got pissed.....yeah,that was great.

The only x-factors with Furcal are A) how long is the sentence and B) when will he begin serving the time? If no one shows up at MMPUS with a sign that will bring back terrible memories of getting Piazza'ed in the county lock-up last year, well.. color me disappointed.

His not going to jail this offseason may be the key to this series.  He was incredible last year.

According to the douchebag ESPN analysts, Franco was the x-factor today. His lack of stretch on Bradley's chopper to Giles seems to have been crucial in the 5 run 8th.
