Padres, Co-ards, Work....
« on: October 04, 2005, 03:08:47 pm »
If someone is able to watch the game, I can understand not posting, but for those of us desperately looking to avoid doing work whaile at work....

Started off ok for the pads, but they are starting to get bloodied.

Co-arpenter, who has the vote of the announcers for Cy Young, was keeping things under control, but his pitch count through three (I know, pitch counts are meaningless) combined with his tired look the past month and the shrinking depth of the pen, and Peavy going for the pads....looked like the coards might be vulnerable.

the Padres seem to have been able to help them out in the 3rd, though. They imploded early in the series.
It's my estimation that every man ever got a statue made of 'em was one kinda sombitch or another.

Looks like it may be Cards in 2.

After Thursday, MLB should just agree to end this madness.

Co's 4-0, bottom 4.

Carp is getting all sorts of DP balls (3 thru 4 innings).
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Peavy is pitching good but got hurt by a couple of bloop hits and a wild pitch. (Ausmus could have blocked it)

Carpenter is not exceptionally sharp but is getting the job done. He was struggling with his curve early.

Another lucky hit for Edmonds. He now has a bloop double and a come back to the pitcher that bounces off of Peavy for a single.

Announcers moving on to the Yankees Angels matchup tonight.

Carpenter is showing the league how he was able to amass that great record this season.

At least SD will get one game at home to possibly steal one and not get swept.

Hey now pitching with an 8 run lead is harder than it sounds.  Wait, no it isn't.  Give the trophy to Roger again.

Wow.  This is worse than I ever imagined.  I figured Co-ards in 3, but I didn't think they'd put 8 on Peavy.

New rule: no team less than 10 games over .500 gets a playoff spot.

Yeah, now I'm not quite so pissed that I skipped out of work to watch baseball this afternoon only to have my fucking cable go out 10 minutes after I got home.

Grrrraaarrrgh!

I did stop at Radio Shack to get a small radio to listen to the game tomorrow though.  We have a meeting at 3:30 on the first Wednesday of every month.  Didn't get to see last year's game 1 either.

After struggling with control early it looks like Carpenter is getting healthy off this pathetic offense.    Still, the stuff isn't looking like that of July-August.

I have these stupid imports to the DB that I have been putting off for a while. Looks like they will take hours and will have to be done off hours.

Since I will be coming in during the off hours, maybe I should take off early tomorrow.

Weird how that worked out.

Edit: Sure was a bad time for the wife to go visit her mom, too....

Just like during the season, the Padres have let the coards get a big lead so they can coast.

They are just lulling them to sleep. TLR, even with an 8-0 lead, will feel the need to start managing something soon. If not today, then tomorrow. Maybe over-manage?????

The Padres know how to do just enough to survive, if the regular season was any indication.

This is FAR from over. Peavy took one for the team. He's got them right where he wants them for the next game.

Announcers comments were the trainer came out during his warmup. They talked and decided to pull him.

Yeah, I ALMOST posted "but I can't quite put my finger on it," then re-read it and thought "oh great, everyone's going to think I was going for a REALLY stupid punchline."

Let's see..."hand cramp," "hand cramp."  What else gives men hand cramps that would be funny in a forum full of people who like dick and fart jokes....
