Astros at Royals- September 14, 2019
« on: September 14, 2019, 06:49:56 pm »
A couple of 1 out singles by the Royals in the 2nd but Greinke gets a K and a 4-3 grounder.

The KC bench coach, Swaim, was ejected in the first (night have been top 2) for arguing balls/strikes.

I think it's spelled "Sveum" but pronounced "Swaim". Go figure.

Springer with a 1 out walk but that was it.

Altuve got one near the warning track.  Hit it just off the sweet spot.

Bregman makes a nice grab going to his left,  spins and sails the throw over Yuli's head.

Ruled a hit,  runner stayed at 1st.

Merrifield hits a rocket to the base of the wall in left,  Lopez tries to go 1st to third but Tucker to Bregman to Chirinos balls him at the plate.

Replay looks like he may have snuck his hand in ahead of the tag.

Replay says . . . safe.

Merrifield took 3rd on the throw.

1-0, runner on 3rd with no outs.

Chirinos walks.

Tucker steals 3rd, Chirinos to 2nd.

Toro waves at a pitch in the dirt for strike 3.

Grienke puts up  zero.

Lots of pressure from the offense but the big swing came with the bases empty.

Let's try it again.

It seems they are all trying to be the "new" Astros.  IMO, it's more than just top draft picks, as illustrated by Appell and Aiken.  It's developing the system.  That's what Luhnow and Co. did and has made the difference.

He started hitting lefties a lot better than righties.

As Blum & Kalas google where Nori Aoki’s playing right now (he plays for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows), I saw him play in Tokyo a week or so ago. It was a lot of fun. I’ll write up a longer post about the Japanese baseball experience sometime, but the short version is that I highly recommend it if you’re able to go.
