Well, that didn't take long.  First pitch of the game...1-0 Pirates
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Remember when the Astros starting pitching was considered an overall bright spot? Ah, the good ol' days.

Peacock is just piping pitches.

Also, thank god we sacrificed the position player pitchers last night. Now the bullpen can get their brains beat in today by a shitty, bottom or the barrel NL team.

Last 5 starts before today for Peacock... 4.45 ERA might be time to make an early move for a starter

That reminds me, who is the emergency catcher? I would assume Aledmys if he's healthy but I can't think of any real candidate on this roster.

I doubt very seriously he could get into the crouch. Although on the plus side the chest protector might be superfluous.

Anyway, it would be good to be able to keep his bat in the lineup.

Of course. I am basing my super scientific diagnosis on the play we saw the other night that led him to lay down on the field in pain and the play we didn't see where he damaged his knee in some more serious fashion.

I realize I'm leaving out the possibility of a home massage without a happy ending.

Pretty much the only highlight of this game so far.

Always fun when a mediocre former teammate shoves it squarely up your ass by doing nothing but throwing hittable strikes that are inexplicably being watched.

For their last 16 hits, the Astros have scored 2 runs.  The Pirates, over the same period have had 24 hits and scored 21 runs.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Apparently the Astros would be firmly the laughing stock of the NL Central.

Unless we're trading about 12 people, I don't think it's going to do much to move the needle. The roster with very few exceptions has been fucking putrid for just about all of the last 10+ games.

Thinking about pitching. The offense will be back.

They could find themselves in second place by the end of the weekend.

Alvarez interview after the game and he says he felt the knee fielding a fly ball and stopping real quick. Had a treatment and MRI and waiting for results. Hoping to miss just a day or two.

Astros have lost:
 9 of last 11 games
their last three series (including their first home series loss)
5 games off their division lead (down to 4 1/2 and everyone in the division seems to be playing well).

Please! Make it stop!

The pitching,  on the other hand . . .

Can you imagine what Colorado is going to do to them next week? White and Stassi better keep their arms loose.
