Jays @ Astros 6/15

Bagwell in the booth, and he is on FIRE in the 2nd inning.

Highlights:

He asked TK if Yuli was Lourdes' dad or brother, and Blum had to mute out for a solid minute.

He accused Cavan of being "a little disrespectful to him" before the game, before cracking himself up.

Why does Biggio's retired number have a yellow pinwheel on it?

White hits.

White, Mayfield, and Stubbs combine for two runs so far. Pretty resourceful

I love the once a month Baggy in the Booth.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Lourdes just grounded out to Yuli. Yuli had to change and make a quick throw, and Lourdes was having to fight off a smile as he ran back to the Jays dugout.

And now Lourdes is giving him grief from the dugout, and Yuli is grinning like a goon.

Did you see the Lourdes bobblehead on 3rd base just before the start of the game?

At the Seattle airport.  Met a couple decked out in Astros gear returning from Alaska.

They've been in incommunicado and have seen zero of Alvarez.

His eyes got wide when I told him about Yordan's train track blast from last night.

In other news,  concourse N here is a dump.

Alvarez did a nice job of navigating the corner of the Crawford Boxes to make the catch in the dead zone in LF. He looks smoother out there today than when I saw him in Round Rock.

A 1.785 OPS makes anyone look smooth.

This team is so fun to follow and root for.   It makes the whole tear down, 100 loss seasons, no tv,, move to the AL worth it.

It may purely be survival instincts, but his presence has seemed to fire up White.  He’s squaring up a lot of balls lately.

Good to see James in the 9th. Apparently whatever was bothering him on Wednesday wasn't serious.

I was really enjoying Bagwell's comments about watching the new guys do well. Some of my most satisfying moments at work have come from watching new people under my tutelage strike out and do well on their own, so I could really identify with that.

So I spent the entire game stuck in Huntsville.  And when I say "stuck in Huntsville", I mean sitting still on I45 for 3 and 1/2 hours.  It literally took me 3 and 1/2 hours to go about 1,000 feet.  So I got to listen to the game on the radio.  Thank you SiriusXM.  I did not get to see Alvarez's blast, but I am looking forward to watching the replay this morning with my coffee and breakfast cigar.

What sort of accident or construction caused a delay that long?

What sort of accident or construction caused a delay that long?

I45 south is shut down for construction this weekend.  Everyone has to exit.  Only there is no sign saying so, only one (after the last exit) saying "expect stopped traffic ahead".  There was no traffic control, no police or traffic directing.  Everyone is just left to figure it out.  It was hot.  You can imagine how drivers were.  Part of the jam up was people getting *on* the freeway right as it was going down to one lane and forcing people off.  You could see that 100 feet ahead people were being forced off, yet thousands were trying to squeeze on.  The feeder was moving, so once you got off, it moved ok.  About a mile down the feeder, and you could get back on and everything was good.  But it was insane.  The only time I ever got stuck longer was in the HOV lane in Houston, when there was a major accident where cars from the main lane went over the concrete barricade into the HOV lane.  It was shut down for about 5 hours, and we all got out of our cars and shot the shit.

They're getting eyes on them is how Bagwell put it last night.

Before I go anywhere in the car here I check a couple of different apps to see if there is some sort of massive clusterfuckery happening anywhere near where I'm going because it is entirely possible to find yourself sitting there for three (or five) hours for no discernible reason.
