...and Oklahoma State counter punches in this titanic battle. Now: 4-4 with the Red Raiders coming to bat in the bottom of the seventh.

Bottom 7: FSU 4, LSU 2

Ok State still counter punching, leading 6-4 going to Bottom of 8th...

Now with the counter-counter punch: Tech takes the lead 8-6 at the end of eight. What a game!

LSU and FSU now tied at 4 in the ninth.

Both match ups seem to favor the home team......

Texas Tech just defeated Oklahoma State 8-6 in a slobba-knocka game and get their ticket punched to Omaha.

I think home field was likely the difference in the Texas Tech-Oklahoma State series. The two teams are so closely matched and, as clearly the best two teams in the #2 RPI conference, should not (in my opinion) have been paired in the Super Regional.

Florida State is playing out of their heads but, I think need to win today or won't have enough to beat a better LSU team tomorrow. Still 4-4 in the bottom of 10.

Florida State sweeps LSU in Baton Rouge. The Seminoles win 5-4 in 12 innings. Big upset.

Earlier, Vanderbilt ended Duke's delusions of grandeur 13-2 and are headed to Omaha.

Mississippi State beats Stanford 8-1 and starts packing for Omaha.

UCLA needs two runs to stay alive in the bottom of the 9th as they trail Michigan 4-2.

Michigan upsets national #1 seed UCLA 4-2. Michigan goes to the CWS for the first time a long time.

Now, six of the eight CWS teams are set: Louisville, Texas Tech, Florida State, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, and Michigan are going to Omaha!

Tomorrow: North Carolina plays Auburn and Ole Miss plays Arkansas for the final two spots.

As I wrote earlier, the LSU loss to a gentleman like Mike Martin doesn't bother me at all. I'll be pulling for the Seminoles this year in the CWS.

He was pretty stoked after that victory, for obvious reasons.  They are playing very well too.  Pretty much dismantled Georgia and outlasted LSU.

I didn't see much of Louisville, but so far, FSU and Vandy look pretty strong.  I think the piggies are pretty good also (if they win today), but they have a way of blowing it.

North Carolina had a nightmare first inning as Auburn dropped a baker's dozen on them. The Tarheels held the Tigers to one run the rest of the way but it was too much hill to climb. Auburn wins 14-7 and advances to the CWS.

Meanwhile Arkansas rallied for 4 runs in the bottom of the second to lead Ole Miss  4-1.

Hogs run away with it 14-1.
Brackets are:
Vandy v Louisville
Auburn v Miss St

Other side is (not sure who is playing who yet)
Texas Tech, Fla St, Michigan, Arkansas.

I hope my Tigers do well but am seeing a Vandy Ark final

They're going to have a lot of newbie fans in Omaha this year. Congratulations to Michigan, Texas Tech and Louisville for getting in for the first time or in a long time. Note that half of the field again is from the SEC (Superior Effing Conference).

This is Texas Tech's fourth visit to the CWS in six years. They were there last year.

Too busy slurping that SEC dong to make any real point.

SEC gorvelling is now rampant in all college sports.

Texas Tech is now the National Champion in men's Track & Field and Virginia (ACC) barely beat the Red Raiders in the basketball championship. The SEC is overwhelming other conferences with sheer numbers, but with some pretty good baseball and basketball programs, and a few good football teams, the tiny, ten team (nine for baseball) Big XII does alright.
