Memorial Day Game

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

B2:

Chirinos...3-2...walks
Mayfield...making Major League debut...doubles off the LF wall!  Chirinos to 3B
White flies out F8...Chirinos scores, Mayfield to 3B...score it an RBI sac fly for Tyler!
Fisher...infield in...quickly down 0-2...grounds into FC, Mayfield out 4-2 at the plate...Mayfield never even reached the RH batter's box
Marisnick...3-0...walks, Fisher to 2B
Reddick...takes strike one at the ankles...takes ball one at the knees...make up call evens the count...flies out F9...just missed it.

Astros leave a pair, but cut the lead in half...2-1 Cubs

Now i want to know if the kid is Jack junior and they call him Jack-son or if it’s straight up Jackson. Can’t wait to meet their future daughter Jacqueline.

Gurriel singles to LF, Bregman scores as a really good throw gets by Contreras...Brantley to 2B
Chirinos doubles off the LF wall, Brantley scores, Gurriel to 3B
Mayfield grounds out 5-3, Gurriel scores
White...full count...walks
Passed ball...Chirinos to 3B, White to 2B
Fisher...infield now comes in 2-2...singles to RF, Chirinos scores, White to 3B

Rizzo with a soft roller to SS, no one there...shiftfuck single
Contreras...0-2...1-2...grounds into FC, Rizzo out 5-4 at 2B...no chance to turn two
Aducci...0-2...1-2...strikes out swinging
Almora grounds out 5-3 on a nice pick by Yuli!  That was positively Bregmanesque!

I don’t even know how to describe it, but it has some geometric pattern with colors other than the team’s standard issue so I assume it has to be approved for wear by MLB.

Surely Bregs can handle 2nd.   If we ever need to play Yuli/Bregs at 3rd/2nd again, please put Yuli at 3rd.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Nice knock by Fisher. He looks better at the plate to me than his other trips up here. Hopefully it has clicked. His speed would be a big asset if he could hit enough to stay up here.

It's a compression sleeve.  Not sure what the colors represent.  Maybe the gold for Memorial Day?  Contreras has gold trim on his catcher's gear, so maybe it has something to do with that.

That play illustrates why that Jake play Friday night was a 5% catch probably.

T9:

Osuna in to try to close it out...

Almora...drills a monster home run over the tracks to LF on the first pitch
Descalso grounds out 3-1
Russell homers to LCF
Bote...0-2...singles to RF
Schwarber...0-2...1-2...2-2...3-2...strikes out swinging
Baez...0-2...1-2...2-2...PONCH!!!!!

Astros hang on to win, as the crowd goes home disappointed.

It's a compression sleeve.  Not sure what the colors represent.  Maybe the gold for Memorial Day?  Contreras has gold trim on his catcher's gear, so maybe it has something to do with that.

It looked like desert camo to me. What you see our guys wear in the Middle-East.

According to Wikipedia, “platinum sombrero” or “Olympic Rings” are the preferred descriptors for the ignominious distinction. The etymology of the “golden sombrero” is that it was created to describe a feat larger than a hat trick. So, my question is should we coin a term based on a larger or perhaps more elaborate hat instead of simply upgrading the element associated with the larger hat? Of the many obscure topics in which the knowledge here runs deep, hat styles might crack the top 5.

Perhaps "The Giant Foam Cowboy Hat", since that's about the most ridiculous thing you can put on your head.

I wear one almost every day.  Not a cheap one three sizes too small, cocked back on my head, but an actual real fedora.  Typically straw after about April

I have probably eight or ten.  I have several Stetson felts, and a Canadian made Biltmore that I love.  I have one fabulous silver belly, custom made from some hatter in Oregon.  It was custom made for someone else, who didn't like it, so I got it for a song...like $200.  I have two Stetson straws, a Dobbs Milan-weave straw, and two Panamas, hand woven in Ecuador (as all Panama hats should be) that have no brand, obviously.  Been wanting an Akubra, just haven't, for whatever reason.  I have an old Stetson straw cowboy hat for wearing around the old place, working on the tractor, etc.

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

This seems like as good a time as any to mention that the last time I took luncheon with Hudson he wore an Astros baseball cap. Which he left on during the meal.

I have several nice hats, and a bunch of ball caps. I don't think it is as much a douchey thing to wear a hat any more than I think it is a douchey thing to judge someone for wearing a hat.... unless the hat is worn backwards. Those guys are the worst.

Impossible. This is blasphemy.

It's also important to note that we were eating outside.  The rules are slightly different outside and at the diner counter.
