Also, I would pay good money for a version of the series that skips every single Theon scene.

Do you mean Euron? I find the actor that plays Theon to be quite talented and the charecter to be properly nuanced. However, regarding Euron... not so much on either point.

True but Theon sucks.

Theon is a great idea for a character though and the first scene with his sister is an immortal classic, but they sort of wrote his story line into the abyss.

Just the incredible new credits had me literally bouncing in my seat.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Episode 2 was a good one. Personally I feel like they have the show right where they want it and are ready to blow us away.

I appreciated the (likely) last bit of true character bonding before the dragon shit hits the fan.  It was funny and impactful while still honoring the books. Well done.

Buckle up, buttercup.

For the first time in a while, a long While, the positives far outweighed the negatives in this episode. Not just how it looked and such but the writing was actually pretty decent for the most part. Definitely an improvement and now I actually am excited about GoT for the first time since they caught up to the books.

I absolutely loved the episode.

My only note is that HBO’s announcement of “btw, Arya is 18” served to remind us that the show has never given any frame of reference for how much time passes.

Baby Sam was a baby for about 3 seasons but Arya has aged about 8 years over the seasons. How does this not make sense?

I'm in the middle of Season 4, and in the storyline, it seems like it's been about 4 months of time that has passed since the first episode of Season 1, and about three weeks since Season 2.  I had assumed that in the story, Arya is supposed to be about 12 right now, so the story has to progress about six years in the next two seasons or the timeline is completely whacked.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Time is an illusion in the show. They just make shit up as they go along and hope nobody notices. The first 4 seasons were easy because they had the books to go by. The books take place over the course of about 2 years if I'm not mistaken but Martin doesn't really do timelines either, so who knows?

Filming a show over, what, 10 years using child actors would probably screw up your timeline, for sure.  They've admitted as much in the past, that people shouldn't pay too much attention to things like travel times from place to place and whatnot.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Yeah, I know. I fully admit that I'm pretty biased when it comes to the show because I love the books so much and credit the books for awaking my love of reading. I just would like for the aging to be at least somewhat consistent for the characters. The ages all have to be older for the show and I'm perfectly fine with that but having a literal new born for such a long stretch, while other characters get older just makes you scratch your head, no?

I'm trying really hard to make sure my "book goggles" stay off this season

The HBO writers don't care about your stupid timelines.

I liked this episode well enough, but it's basically a sitcom with all the characters coming in and out and telling jokes. Someone needs to do something totally evil ASAP (and not just the Night King or Cersei!).

The other wrench in timelines of books v. show is that everyone on the show started off several years older than in the books. Dany was something like 13 in the books when it started. Jon Snow was 14 or 15, I think.

Maybe they didn't want to depict a brother grabbing his 13-year-old sister's boob within the first couple of episodes?

Please.  It's Westeros, not Tennessee.

Forget it, Ray. It’s Oldtown.

For some reason, I just realized there are only 4 more episodes. Big character bloodbath ahead I guess.

Grey Worm and Brienne all but certain this week. Jorah, Tormund, Edd, Beric highly likely.
