It looks like they think they have a dearth of outfielders at the short season and rookie teams.

For whatever it's worth, Spencer Morris over on TCB sounds pretty bullish on the Day 2 picks, especially the first three.  Springer like comps on Jordan Brewer, while Colin Barber is a toolsy prep outfielder who hasn't put it all together.  I like the Hunter Brown pick a lot.  Young college Junior with a live arm.

Texas Longhorn Blair Henley apparently has a pretty high spin rate on his CB.

Round 10 Final round for the day
Stubbs, C.J.
USC (CA)
P
R/R
4YR SR

I’m assuming the brother of Garrett, or maybe not as I think his brother was also a catcher

Round 6

That would be Matthew "Barefoot in the Minute Maid Park"... correct. Good name.

Round 8
Guerrero, Luis
Miami Dade CC Kendall (FL)
CF
R/R
JC J2

I think I read a piece on this kid being the best pure hitter in the draft that went unnoticed by all the pundits. Glad the Astros noticed him.

He is Garrett's brother.
He moved from catcher to pitcher in high school and pitched @ USC until TJS that wiped out his junior year (2018).

Now his focus is on catcher again.  A pre-draft interview follows.

Battenfield pitching for Okie State against Tech right now. Seems to have an easy motion. Just struck out two Techsters.

Thanks for that info.  Luhnow mentioned that they would need to go overslot on the fourth round high school bat.  To get the money, I didn't know if one, two or all three of the higher picks would be underslot.  Looks like they got a nice chunk of what they will need from the #1 pick.

Wow... I loved watching his grandfather play for the Cubs/Cardinals.  Still in shock of how time flies.
