Crazy thought: given the Marlins’ previous talks with the Mets, could the Astros be looking to spin Lugo on to Miami?

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I doubt he would be anything close to a headliner for Realmuto, if that’s what you mean. Fish wanted two of Nimmo, Rosario, Conforto in Realmuto deal.

Lugo might be a nice addition to the end of the rotation. His years of control, along with the fact he is a good pitcher, makes him a very interesting under the radar type of acquisition.

Astros looking at the Mets' Seth Lugo.

Some added context here. Told Seth Lugo’s name got floated out as part of wider-ranging trade talks between the Astros and Mets. Sounds like the sides kicked around a bunch of different ideas of late. Thus far, none have gained traction.

I wonder if the Mets are interested in Derek Fisher. They have Lagares, who is kind of an injury-prone Marisnick - great D, sub-par bat, RH hitter. Not that Fisher is a great CF, but he may be better than their other options and could theoretically platoon with Lagares.

Lugo has this Pressly feel to it....  Hope it can get done cheaply.

With 4 years of control I doubt it would be cheap, but I think he could easily be had without parting with Tucker or Whitley. Something like Fisher or White or Davis and Bukauskas might get it done.

Lugo is a 29 year-old RH who is basically a reliever - he’s been far better in that role (4.06 ERA, 1.30 WHIP as SP; 2.38 ERA, 0.99 WHIP as RP). I’d be very surprised if a package had to include Bukauskas. Maybe something like Fisher and Jairo Solis or some other lo-A, hard-throwing more lottery-ticket type.

It’s also possible that the Mets don’t even want to trade him for prospects at all, because they are clearly going for it in 2019 and seem like they need Lugo for their bullpen.
