At a distillery in Cincy. Corn whiskey in hand, tacos shortly. Swing the bats!

Jesus, Keuchel is lucky that Goldschmidt didn't hit that ball to the moon.

Marwin can't quite catch that blast from Goldschmidt.

I was thinking earlier today we'd probably see a better showing from Goldschmidt than we did at their place.

Hey Dallas, grooving pitches is not a recipe for success.

Hinch was talking in the pregame about the Astros have been a strike throwing juggernaut lately.  Perhaps it's just me, but it sure seems like they're putting more guys on than ever.  Perhaps it's just my perception though, I haven't looked it up.

T1:

Pollock...0-2...1-2...strikes out swinging
Escobar...full count...walks
Goldschmidt hammers the first pitch to LCF...ball bonces and sticks in the fence...ground rule double, Escobar has to stop at 3B...break for the Astros now
Peralta...infield halfway...singles up the middle, Escobar scores, Goldschmidt scores
Walker strikes out swinging
Souza...full count...walks, Peralta to 2B
Ahmed flies out to deep RCF

2-0 DBacks

So Keuchel seems to have fixed his slider but now can't fight the urge to put his fastball on a tee for the top of the opposition's lineup.

According to Baseball Reference, the Astros have walked 40 batters in 98.2 innings pitched in September.  By comparison, they walked 64 in all of August, in 232.0 innings.  63 BB in July in 216.1 innings.

Correa is currently physically unable to swing in the way that generates slugging numbers.

Some hitters could adjust and hit singles.  I doubt Carlos has ever tried (or been coached) to hit anything but doubles/HRs.

Marte flies out F9
Mathis grounds out 5-3 on a really nice play by Bregman
Pollock lines one off of Keuchel...right in the left shoulder...bounces to no-man's land for an infield single
Escobar grounds out 5-3

Then he should be on the DL, not hitting 4th or 5th in the lineup.  It doesn't make him a bad person but results matter, and Correa simply has not delivered since his return.  It's not helping the team win to keep running him out there if he's physically unable to contribute at an acceptable level.

He's hitting about what Kyle Tucker was.  Think about that for a minute.

He's still playing well defensively.

So Adam Everett may be more apt.

Then he should be on the DL, not hitting 4th or 5th in the lineup.  It doesn't make him a bad person but results matter, and Correa simply has not delivered since his return.  It's not helping the team win to keep running him out there if he's physically unable to contribute at an acceptable level.

I find it hard to believe there is a big physical issue, his range in the field and the way he unloads those throws look pretty good.

Then it's mental.  Which is worse.

I accept that he's not 100%.  But if he's 30%, he's not helping.

What a fucking aggravating game that was, TB out hit them 6 - 3 but lost 2 -1.  2 base runners were CS and 1 PO, they may not get a better chance to beat the A's in this series.  I don't think Snell pitches in this series.

That was an impressive at bat. Smith threw two balls and six strikes yet Escobar worked a walk.

Then throws an 0-2 meatball to Goldschmidt.

T7:

Smith in

Pollock grounds out 5-3
Escobar...3-2...walks
Goldschmidt...0-2...doubles to LF on a fat pitch right down the middle of the plate....Escobar to 3B

Smith out, Sipp in

Peralta...infield in...0-2...1-2...2-2...strikes out swinging

Sipp out, Rondon in

Descalso, pinch hitting for Walker, 0-1...takes a strike to make it 1-1...1-2...should be out already...strikes out looking anyway

2-2 at the stretch

Springer took a spinning slider for strike one that was ripe for a visit to the Crawford Box. Half swung at a ball, half swung at a ball (and went around), then took a 85 MPH fastball on the outer 3rd.

That was fucking PUTRID.

What happened was not stepping on their throats with the based loaded and nobody out at the beginning of the game now equals a good chance of losing a game to the A's tonight.

Fuck.

Leadoff double and the Astros got nothing.

They take the lead on a 2 out broken bat shift fuck triple.

The shift cost the Astros run 4, but run 3 would've fallen in barring a fucking miracle.

T8:

Souza strikes out looking
Ahmed doubles to RCF on a hanging slider
Marte chops back to Rondon, who looks the runner back, and throws to 1B for the 1-3
Jay, pinch hitting for Mathis, bloops a broken  bat triple right over 1B, Ahmed scores
Pollock bloops a single to CF, Springer dives, but can't get it, Jay scores, Pollock out 4-6 trying to stretch it

But a couple of bloops result in 2 runs...Snakes lead 4-2

This will be an interesting review.

I don't think there's enough to turn it over, but there is zero percent chance the umpire knew that ball was in his glove to start with.

At least we'll be on the road.

Giles will be sitting in his recliner rubbing his hands.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Well that sucked goat balls.

Let them off the hook early and then couldn't get a man home from second with no outs.

Plus a dozen or more other things that make me want to throw something breakable.

He'll probably miss the recliner.

He'll probably miss the recliner.

Nonsense. He'll be sitting right in the middle of it. Straight as an arrow.

Don't forget the fucking gift meatball double.

Yep, after two swings and misses on good sliders.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

HH, submitted for your consideration: maybe rum is the *road* drink. Maybe something else is required for home games.
