HPU took a Josh Reddick foul tip  carom off of the catcher's mask and decided to leave the game after the half-inning. Delay now setting up the replacement ump with gear.

Astros are just gobsmacked that Price throws a fastball.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

The Astros are simply shocked that they have a game today. It’s like it’s January and someone woke them up at midnight and said “you have a game today”.

“What?”

Someone should tell the Red Sox that they’re not suppposed to swing at meatballs down the middle of the plate.

That reason is because they refuse to swing st fucking meatballs right down the center of the plate.

Yeah, White swung at a ball, but at least when you swing occasionally the pitcher doesn't feel like he can just groove things down the middle. all the time.

Reddick strikes me as a guy who would have liked to give Burt Reynolds a nice tribute moment with a clutch RBI; perhaps he was pressing.

Why no MCCann for Marisnick?  He’s got to come in the game anyway?

Its called a swing son, like they used to do in the old days.

I guess that with the lead AJ wants the Marisnick defense. I figured McCann would hit and come in to catch, and Kemp would go to center. But I guess the 2 RBI changed the plan.

Must be. But you had a chance to make it more than a 1-run game there, and now Kemp is burned.

Kemp to LF, Reddick to RF and Springer to CF is what I would have expected.

The Astros computers say to pitch JD up and in. They’ve been pumping them up there all night.

Pressly didn’t get his last pitch up to his target, and JD ripped it past Correa.

The entire Red Sox team crushes spinners in the zone.

That was a pretty awful mistake to a great hitter.

The bad news is that because of last inning, we're going to have to see Betts and maybe Martinez in the 9th.

He caught himself and pulled back in time.

Need to have a good showing in Boston, because I have no faith the Rangers will put up much resistance this weekend

Somehow I moronically missed the fact both the Astros and Texans are in New England this weekend, but my boys have a full day of baseball tomorrow in any event.

No, sir. The only hard liquor I can remember drinking in Australia ever was at a bar near the central market in Adelaide that had some special gin that allegedly was made according to some old seafarer's recipe and it was supposed to be especially strong. It was a house specialty apparently and so I ordered it. I don't remember its being any different from any other gin, really.

I assume Australian rum production is largely if not exclusively in Queensland.

Yes, Qld largely on account of Bundaberg Rum.  WA contributes Canefire and Ord River rum, Canefire is well named.  I got a bottle of Ord River when I was in Kununurra recently but haven't opened it yet, it comes from a funny little hoochery that grows its own sugar cane.  Some of their products are pretty damn expensive, I wouldn't pay $350 for a bottle of rum too often.

I have plenty of rum based cocktails but never purchased a bottle of rum. I have bought quite a number of bottles of cachaça for making caipirinhas at gatherings. So, do you guys drink the rum straight? Seems like it's working, might have to try.

The recording I have is in B major.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I just drink it straight.  Of course, it needs to be good sipping rum, not Capt. Morgan.
Right. Flor de Caña 18, for instance.

I'm a little confused: what did he just do with the bat?

It was pure artistry.

Bobby Heugel coincidentally posted something yesterday that is germane to the discussion here:

Quote
In December of 2015, I poured a bunch of bottles down the drain at Anvil, challenging Flor de Caña to respond to reports about the treatment of their sugarcane workers. After kicking bottles out of bars for years for various reasons, I was surprised by the resulting reaction. I wasn’t trying to start a widespread “boycott” of a brand; I was simply reacting to serious reports as an informed consumer.

What was clear, however, is that our industry feasts on negativity. Afterwards, few were interested in Flor de Caña’s response, which I found to be transparent and constructive (some view this differently). This isn’t productive. If the goal of speaking out about issues like this is to generate real change, it is important to be not only critical, but encouraging of thoughtful change and eager to support exceptional brands. But again, our industry misses the morning soaps, so we create our own.

So, I’m not sure how to inspire the same reaction that bottles in a sink do, but for extremely positive reasons. But, here goes…

Novo Fogo is a zero-waste distillery. In one of the toughest environments, the Atlantic Rainforest in southern Brazil. This isn’t Iowa whiskey; this is Cachaça, a spirit from our world’s most threatened environment. Their sugarcane is 100% organic and harvested by hand by sugarcane workers. Workers are paid salaries NOT BY THE YIELD, required to take breaks, and prevented from working in the heat between noon and 3pm. Novo Fogo is fiercely dedicated to restoring the Atlantic Rainforest, especially those trees Cachaça is contributing to the eradication of through the use native woods for barrels. ALL of the regular working distillers are female.

I’ve been to 400ish distilleries, and this is the most environmentally and socially-conscious brand I’ve seen (paid my own way to stay objective). We need to support brands like this just as eagerly as we vilify plastic straws or companies like Flor de Caña (which I don’t think deserves to be vilified today). I was very impressed by Novo Fogo, who would like your support, but seems to be making all of these decisions because it’s the right thing to do.

I used to see a Captain Morgan ad on the subway in New York. It was a photo of some young urbanites in a festive setting with the caption, Comin' alive after five!

I always wondered whether that meant five o'clock or five drinks.

Must've meant five drinks. No one goes to the bar in NY at five o'clock. Unless they meant AM.
