White,  McCann, and Gattis in the lineup tonight.

If a lumberjack competition breaks out we'll dominate.

Correa for some R&R to regroup.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Does he need his eyes checked?  I'm only slightly kidding...

Too many first pitches down the middle with men on base.
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Better lineup without Correa. He has played poorly in the field lately. He has been an enormous hole in the middle of the lineup for more than a month. Hard to think that a couple of days off will turn him around but it is worth a try. They sure need the old Carlos to show up in Boston.

Gameday says three of those four balls were strikes.

Two of them clipped the corner, one was all ball in the zone.

And now White whiffs at what should be a double play.  That's one of those where you *can* assume a double play and assign an error.  Don't think they did, however.

Now Valdez with another walk

Funny, I remember you JUST mentioning that specific circumstance just a night or two ago, regarding White's flub.

Let's hope Framber got that out of his system.

2 dp inducing ground balls were nice however.

White was never going to see 2 more hittable pitches than strikes 1 and 2 in that AB.

White took two fucking fat pitches right down the middle so he could whiff at a slider off the plate.

He’s getting squeezed a bit, but if we’re around the zone more he’d get more of those close calls.

He's more likely to be the designated pinch hitter, but mashing is in both job descriptions.

Polanco singles to LF
Polanco to 2B on a wild pitch
Grossman grounds out 6-3...woulda been a double play, but instead Polanco moves to 3B
Garver chops up the 3B line, and Valdez runs over and grabs it before it rolls foul for an infield single...really poor deicion as the ball was clearly rolling foul

And that's it for Valdez, Harris in

Austin...0-2...1-2...strikes out swinging
Adrianza...0-2...broken bat goes flying and may have stabbed someone in the stands...chops up the 1B line, Harris over to get it and on to 1B to end the inning

5-1 Astros

I’ve already silently lamented that he missed the player’s weekend jersey opportunity for this reason only. Aside from a potential “Deetz Nutz” jersey, I have no interest in seeing the personalized jersey practice continued.

What's the story?

Probably the biggest story is that the Astros have a great scout, Jim Stevenson, in Oklahoma and surrounding states. Obviously Laureano and Deetz out of NE Ok. A&M which is a tiny school in the middle of nowhere. (I've been there). There are some others the Astros have drafted out of that school that I don't recall. Stevenson signed Josh James out of Western Ok. State and Abe Toro from Seminole College. Keuchel was his guy out of Tulsa and UofArk. I wish I could remember others from that area.

Justin Ferrell (Connors State), Jonathan Lacroix (Seminole), Antonio Nunez (Western Oklahoma), Austin Hansen (OU), Jack Mayfield (OU) and Ralph Garza (OU) are other Oklahoma guys that Stevenson signed that are still in the system. Carson LaRue (Cowley County CC) is also his. North Texas guys that he's signed include Tyler Ivey (Grayson juco) and Parker Mushinski (Texas Tech). From his days with the Brewers he signed Yovani Gallardo (Trimble HS in Fort Worth).

That sounds like a trick question.

I was once briefly involved in this scheme to import furniture from Brazil and sell it to retailers and Latino distributors and who knows who else. I made a bunch of sales appointments up and down Florida and set off with this colleague, the idiot son of the head of one of the Brazilian furniture factories I was dealing with. We'd done a lot of messing around in South Florida, of course, where everyone speaks Spanish, but I'd forgotten to mention that there is a line somewhere (latitudinally different depending on which coast you're ascending) where Carlos turns into Cletus. We pull up outside this giant store, sort of Orlando's answer to Gallery Furniture I guess, and we go in. We're met by the owner, and Idiot Son whips out his laptop and fires it up in order to show Cletus his catalog. I doubt I have to tell you that IS had a fucking porn CD loaded and that's what initially was projected onto the screen. Amid mad fumbling IS managed to get it turned off within a couple of seconds. Had I been a more astute salesman I might have commented on the apparent strength and general quality of our bedroom line, but I suppose I was sort of green in the furniture game.

As we left this store - Cletus had dismissed us with a curt I DON SEE'NA VALYA! - IS turned to me and said, I didn't understand a word he said. I laughed, Yeah, sorry about that, I meant to warn you.

I bring this up because Cletus had asked us, SO, YOU BOYS COME UP FRUM MY-HAMMUH?

Both of my parents fell into this category, technically, but they moved back and forth from the Northeast (Pennsylvania and NYC), so maybe not the population you are referring to.
