Legends Weekend...

Come on boys...score early and often
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

So after all this bullshit the last few night, I quit fucking around.  It's Woodford Reserve.  I have a 1 liter bottle.  Get it done.

I think I would have put tucker in of, marwin at 2nd, yuli at 1st.

I would also try this batting order:
Kemp
Reddick
Correa
Gurriel
Gattis
Bregman
Gonzalez
Tucker
Stassi

I think Tucker is going to do better this time around.

I don't think Bregman gets that far down the lineup.   They'll want to get him maximum number of ABs.

Hope you're right about Tucker.

So, I got a bobblehead today and decided I would give it to a kid at the game today.  There seems to be four little brothers at the game.  There are two of them that really seem to be talking baseball, they are in the lead for the bobblehead.  I'll be sure to let you know who wins my secret contest.

T.W. has had enough of Fresno.

Of the sluggers (i.e. non-TK) from Fresno,  he's contributed to most.

I think he's also had the most prior MLB experience.

I like his points about Bregman.

Knows the strike zone,  simple/quick swing.

Plus he's got it between the ears in spades.

T4:

Span hit by a 2-strike pitch on the foot...didn't even move
Segura grounds into 1-6-3 double play...nice play by Correa on a non-deal  throw by Morton
Cruz...0-2...lines a single up the middle, almost taking Morton's head off...Yuli with a great effort to get a glove on it, but it was scorched
Seager doubles to RCF on the first pitch...Astros botch the relay throw and Cruz scores
Herrmann triples to RCF, Seager scores
Healy with a slow roller past a glued to spot White at 1B...Herrmann scores, Healy thrown out 9-6 trying to stretch it.

But the Astros shit the bed with 2 outs...trail 3-2 now.

Every right handed hitter tries to yank everything to the Crawford Boxes.  Frustrating.

Stassi rolls one up the 3B line...Seager lets it go and it hits the bag...infield single for Mad Max
Fisher pinch running for Stassi
Kemp takes strike one over his head in the other box...flies out F8 on a diving catch by Heredia...Fisher was running on the pitch, never looked or stopped and was almost  to 3B and is easily doubled off of 1B
Bregman singles to LF on the first pitch
Correa...0-2...1-2...2-2...3-2...checks his swing...not really, but ump says so...walk, Bregman to 2B
Gattis swings at a pitch in his eyes and hits a lazy fly ball to RF

I'm curious if bagwell shared an opinion on fishers out?

He just thought it was bad luck. Personally, since he was watching the play as he rounded second base, I thought he should have stayed there so he could go back. But I'll readily admit that I'm quick to label him an idiot.

This is it.  Two runs a game with this lineup is about all you can ask for.

Sorry but I expect a little more, there is 6 of the WS lineup there with a few of our supposed top prospects.  They shouldn't be this pitiful.

Bad luck my ass.  Bad baserunning.  This game should be tired tied.

Either find the ball or find your 3B coach.

The ball was on the way to 1st when he retouched 2nd.

Forget comparing the home and road performance of the team. Just look at Marwin Gonzalez. He was just sorry today. From *bunting* with two outs in a one run game to this strikeout now. Lousy.

B9:

AL save leader Diaz in for the M's...

Marwin...0-2...1-2...strikes out swinging
Gurriel...3-1...3-2...strikes out swinging at a pitch in the dirt
Reddick pops out F5 on the first pitch

And the Mariners keep kicking the Astros' ass.

Might as well wish for a million dollars and a pony.  This lineup is just not very good.

Correa is there but not anywhere near full speed at the plate.

Bregman is the only one of the top 4 spots there and producing.

Seattle is healthy and hitting mistakes.

Astros are not healthy and making mistakes.

I’m with you Aussie. I expect more from this lineup. I don’t expect Reddick to hit .315 again. I don’t expect Marwin to hit .300 and lead the team in RBI again, but dammit, I expect better than what we are getting.

We should have gotten a bat at the deadline and we didn’t.

Preston Wilson hammering Fisher for not running hard back to 1B...even if you make a mistake...hustle is his advice.

Fisher had no fundamentals on that.  Following his heart?  Seriously/?  He was a pinch runner, not a hero in a romance novel.

So, as I was leaving my seat, I saw a young kid and asked if he had gotten a bobble head. They said no and so I gave it to them since they stayed the whole game.  Turns out, his dad is Puerto Rican.  Seriously, that should be some good mojo for tomorrow, right?  At least they may have ended leaving happy.

I thought the Mariners were just standing there taunting him on his way back to first waiting, but then got tired and just finally tagged the base.  Kind of like in the movie major league when Hayes is stealing base and his slide doesn't make it.  That was what went through my head.

When he finishes his major league rehab assignment we'll be in good shape.

That's exactly what he's doing and that's why Blum and Bagwell treated his ABs the way they did.   If he's healthy he'll hit,  but it won't be right away.

Last week was bonus.  Since then we've lost Springer and an injury call up who was producing in spots at the plate and playing gold glove caliber defense.

This is after losing a starting pitcher.

At one point during the game, I wish I could remember some details, he said something about - of all people - he needed adult supervision.
Luved it!  Don't we all.
Did anyone else catch that?

Part 2: Hearing how the hitters analyzed the pitchers and helped each other with their own blind spots - being locked in on one particular thing and missing other things that were going on.  It felt as if he was coaching the listening fans on how better to appreciate baseball...

He joked about Biggio to likely cheat on the HR contest by getting extra cuts...

It’s time to send Fisher to another organization.  “Going with his heart” cost the Astros a valuable out late in the game.
