No bat?

I was with friends and could not follow it today. Were we in on anyone?

I didn't see any real mentions, although there was a lot of activity and I may have missed something.

I was listening to 790 when the deadline was approaching and passed, and I don't think there was much with the Astros today.

Today seemed a day of no rumors but quick reports and announcements. I didn't see the Astros appear in any report that didn't involve Osuna.

What about the Astros acquiring Bryce Harper to play left field?

Fake news.

Right.  Harper is in D.C. after all.

I'm hoping that today's inactivity reflects confidence that Altuve and Correa will be back soon.

There are other less optimistic possibilities but I'll continue viewing events thru rainbow colored glasses.

Rosenthal said the Astros were in on Tommy Pham.

I'm wondering if Luhnow is playing a long game and letting these other teams deplete their farm systems this year so that his hand will be relatively stronger next year.

Is this tongue in cheek?

No. I wonder if he knows something about Correa and Altuve that we don't that leads him to believe that this year just isn't meant to be, and he'd be better off staying out of the feeding frenzy.

He might also know something about Correa and Altuve that leads him to believe they'll be back in a few weeks and the middle of the order will get a much-needed shot in the arm.

The feels all too familiar ---- last trade deadline were we mired in a slump or about to go on one?

For Springer, Correa, and Altuve, these stints could also be battery recharging, emotional regeneration.   They have played a lot of games in the last 400 days --- and they have played them at elite levels.

Now of course, we could get into a funk with the division, our bullpen, and our static hitting in the past month, but something tells me Luhnow is taking the date he brought for the most part (hitters) and relying upon some of these veterans to push through like last year ----->  Marwin, McCann, Gattis & Gurriel to go with his four horsemen of the astropocalypse.

The pitching has carried this team all year.  I would expect this continue during play off time, and now our bullpen has gotten a bit stronger, if for anything cutting lose Giles and the possibility of the contagious impact of poor relief work messing with the team's psyche.

Would have liked another bat.  Hells yes.  But am I weeping at the poor poor site of the one of the best hitting teams in baseball going through a funk ---- BABU is ANGRY!    Meh?   If last year was an any indicator, being a stros is never easy.

Enjoy the ride.

This is  serious? After he made three trades? After he tried to make a fourth?

Aw, come on, man. He shored up the catcher position to backstop McCann, and he acquired two good additions to the bully. Everything else was probably too expensive.

Particularly for a team, notwithstanding its recent woes, still on a pace at the trade deadline to win 101 games.

Exactly. Get to the playoffs and architect a team that can do well thru the playoffs.  This makes the most sense.
