OWA 2018 Fantasy Football
« on: July 27, 2018, 03:57:59 pm »
Who all plans on playing again? And if you haven't played before, but want to play, this is the place to chime in.

As for the draft, my thoughts are to hold it one evening either the week before Labor Day or the Tuesday or Wednesday after Labor Day (the season starts that Thursday)

Update: Right now, the draft is scheduled for next Wednesday, August 29th at 8:30 central time.  Does that work for everyone?

If not, we could draft next Monday, August 27, Thursday, August 30, or Wednesday, September 5th at the same time.

Mon, Wed, Thurs works for me (no to Tues or Friday, those are High School Volleyball nights.  Daughter is a Senior this year). I do have another FF draft on Mon 8/27 but I can multi draft if 8/27 turns out to be the choice.

Based on the 7 responses so far,  next Thursday works for everyone,  so I’ve moved the draft to Thursday August 30 at 8:30 p.m. central.

Yahoo should send out a notification a day or two before the draft, but I’ll send out a reminder, too.

Just a reminder, but our draft is this Thursday, August 30, at 8:30 CDT.  I sent out an email through yahoo this morning as well.

Also, like in years past, you can either play for free or play for money. If you want to play for money, you can send $30 via PayPal to [email protected] (based on the number of participants, I'll develop a payout structure).

Shouldn’t it be the opposite of last year’s standings? Not that it would mean anything about your team always picking first of course.

But you bring up a reasonable point. Perhaps that is why Hap always seems to have Drew Brees. Or Kamara this last year.

I just remembered that Hap decided to quit because he was boycotting the league because so many of the players hate the military.

I think he beat someone at some point during the year when he only had like six guys active. Does Zipp still have a team? He might have beaten Zipp.

Could have been me. I think I had a 20-point game last year. I also had several games where literally the only team I would have beaten that week was the team that I happened to be matched up against.

You very well might be right.  With leagues auto renewing now, I didn’t do as good of a job as I should have verifying all returning owners were going to play.  So we probably have 10 active teams, and for that I apologize.

And that’s fine, as it’s an optional thing.  Last year everyone played for free because we had a draft snafu and very few people could show up.

I suffered a catastrophic computer problem that necessitated professional help, causing me to miss the draft. I aspologize. However, the auto-draft gave me a B-, which is better than what I usually get. I promise to be an active owner this season. I'm excited for my Saints.

I read my draft report card. I got a C. Then I was eviscerated with, "If you can't handle the heat, get out of the draft room. Corpse Killers folded under the pressure of this draft. Picking No. 10 overall, they were clearly unprepared. Mayonnaise, middle of the road, mediocre, All words that describe this draft. We have to trust Corpse Killers will make trades and player adds if they are to reach the playoffs."

Sorry to hear about the computer issues, but glad they were able to be resolved.  Also, glad to have you playing in the league, as always.  And you should be excited about the Saints.  I thought they really turned a corner last season and Kamara is a stud, along with Brees.

Yahoo’s draft “report” isn’t worth the digital space it takes up.  However, it is worth a good laugh.

I got tired of watching Chris Boswell miss FGs and PATs for the Steelers and my fantasy team, so I dropped him and picked up Mason Crosby. Crosby's first action today? Missed PAT.

Funny thing is Kamara and Michael Thomas were my first 2 picks in both leagues. I'm 5-1 coming into today in both leagues combined

In another league, I started Wilson and benched Derek Carr (nearly 500 yards 4 touchdowns and a two point conversion), so I feel your pain.

Kamara is ridiculous.  He does nothing for a half and winds up with three touchdowns yesterday.

Unvbelievable. I bench Stafford in favor of Mariota, who gets less than two points, but I still beat Chuck in a high scoring affair.

Thursday night I got an entirely unexpected 19 points out of Ebron (TE), and I was feeling pretty good about things. Then everybody took Sunday off and I got destroyed. And my genius move of dropping Boswell as my kicker and picking Mason Crosby was a spectacular failure, as Crosby missed three FG attempts and a PAT. Womp womp.

Thanks for dropping so many points!    It seems this year my team has only been able to stay alive by the other team having disasters.

The good news is that shit GMs in this league very seldom get fired. So I've always felt I had that going for me, job security. Like a Teamster, or a Republican senator. Or a major league umpire.

So Vauthrin, with a commanding lead, gets beat in successive weeks by me, who sucks, and then by Zipp, who's not even fucking playing, and I'm not sure which is worse.

And then duman turns in a perfectly respectable game leaving nothing of value on the bench only to lose by a fingernail.

And austro, man, I don't know, but I feel for you. I bet there are three or four teams this week with one player that eclipsed your entire team.

The acid test is this week, for I play Zipp. As my cumulative record indicates, I'm not too good at this game, or really any other game for that matter. So don't be surprised if I get dusted by a rudderless, defense-less Zippster! Don't tell him that his defense is on bye!!!

I think I set the record for lowest score.

Not the matchup I expected.

Losing Hunt and Sanders killed me. Also always starting whichever of Goff or Russell scored the least any given week.

1.21 JJ Watts and Bell in Hydeing currently in one hell of a cripple fight.

I haven’t been on the board in awhile but I have been managing my team Dream Crushers. I don’t think I’ve ever played for a championship before. Very exciting. My team was partially robo picked including Gurley. What a beast of RB this season. He hasn’t practiced all week.  I’m hedging my bet on Gurley and I picked up CJ Anderson just in case. Good luck to Bell in Hydeing.

Your team has been crushing dreams all season long. Good luck to the both of you.

Winning the league without your top pick playing a single snap. That's pretty impressive
