Saw Hader today

He slings the ball, but it gets up there in a hurry. 38 IP, 75 Ks.

Saw the Cubs get shut out two days in a row! FTC.

That last pitch to Schwarber was a thing of beauty.

With all the former Astro connections both in the front office and the dugout the Brewers have become my NL “b-team” this year. I’m kinda sorta rooting for them.

I have followed the Brewers success this year. But could never root for them. FYB.

I haven't followed or seen the FTC since their WS win, but it seems like just yesterday, they were going to be a dynasty.  I read where some of their pitching acquisitions weren't stellar, but which of the young bats haven't panned out?  I thought they were supposed to mash well into the future.

Rizzo got off to a slow start. Schwarber is feast or famine. Heyward, until very recently, was awful at the plate. My FTC friends bemoan these facts as well as Tyler Chatwood.

I went to Miller Park in 2002 and enjoyed it immensely.  It helped that Pete Munro had a competent five innings and kept the Astros in the game and then turned it over to the bullpen who didn't allow a base-runner the last 4 innings.  The retractable roof still looks like a steel vulva.

The beer and brat selection at the park was terrific.  Everyone was very nice.  Stopping at the Mars Cheese Castle on the way back to Chicago for a weekend series at Wrigley topped off a terrific day in Wisconsin (which was highlighted by Kirk Saarloos baffling the Cubs enough to eke out a win against Zambrano.

Bryant is slumping and did not play yesterday.

That sounds like an excellent road trip.

My dad and I went to old County Stadium (I think that’s what it was called?) in ‘99 during the thick of the race with the Reds and watched our boys get the shit kicked out of ‘em by nine runs or something. I want to say Elarton started that game, I know Wagner finished it in the losing cause. We walked down to sit behind home plate late to see the 100 MPH gas come in. Disappointing game to say the least but the best smelling stadium I’ve ever walked into.

I was there in that same general timeframe, though it was not the Astros visiting.  Love those brats! (as opposed to the bratty owner).

Fuck Bud Selig.

Pirates all the way.

It isn’t the Brewers’ fault Bud Selig owned them. We might have a buttwipe for an owner some day too and that wouldn’t be the Astros’ fault. I have no qualms rooting for them in their current iteration.

Many Pirates fans, OTOH, will tell you their owners are buttwipes.
