Couldn’t have said it better myself Jim. We need a bat bad. I can’t even put into words how bad Gattis is right now. I too am ready for Tucker. Seeing the job Albies and Acuna are doing in Atlanta has me anxious to see what Kyle can do.

But the issue is, this team is not winning a playoff series the way it is currently constructed. I can deal somewhat with the issues in left field and the lack of production there. But what I cannot handle anymore is the lack of production from the DH spot in our order. That has to be fixed and it has to be fixed soon. If your designated hitter is struggling to hit 200, then you have a problem my friends. If you don’t want to bring up Kyle Tucker yet, then fine. But JD Davis has hit 391 since you sent him back to AAA. Bring him up and give him the AB’s at DH and put Gattis on the bench.

You don't get to carry 26 players, so somebody has to leave to make room for Davis. If that's Gattis, he'll probably have to be DFA'ed, which means you probably won't ever see him again. I'm not sure who has options remaining, but it's probably not any of the folks we're talking about needing to replace. I suspect the front office is waiting for an injury to make that move for them.

Coming into the season Lunhow et al. knew that the roster at the end of game 162 would not be identical to the opening day roster.  But you can't take a turn at the fork in the road until you arrive at the fork in the road.

Trade season is still a ways off. They've got a timeline for Tucker (apparently).  And the as someone else pointed out not many guys with options left to shuffle the deck with.

Now,  if only they can still win 2 out of 3 games while all this settles out.

The Astros gave away AB after AB last night.

The Marwin tap out to the pitcher was a good example of giving in to the pitcher.  That pitch was too close to take,  but it needed to be fouled off.  Instead he manged to roll over on it.

So I would argue that yes Marwin was trying,  no he's not gutless,  but you need to be dialed in and ready to spoil pitches if you want to get one you can drive.

The fact that the Yankees did a good job of getting first pitch curves for strikes makes the above more important.

The number of outs in the inning factor in too. The number of "opportunities" does not seem to specify how many outs there are. If there are 2 outs you're less likely to walk the hitter whereas if there's 1 out, the percentage would rise I'm sure. If you isolated the data to 7th inning or later of a tight game and less than 2 outs I bet the percentage would be much much higher
