Not sure, but I'm planning on having seven Alaskan Ambers. Because that's how many I had last night.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

How can they not look at that?

Apparently that's not reviewable.  And Laz Diaz is still a dick.

Wood too scared to challenge until he has to.  Been bailed out by some poor efforts at hitting, but it’s coming.

Jansen pitches to
McCann
a bunt?    Seager gets to it and throws him out.   6 - 3.  1 out

Musgrove too.

I'm giving Musgrove a pass.  He spent everything he had to get Puig.  He was headed down hill after that.  Giles is as I've said many times more akin to Kyle Farnsworth than Craig Kimbrel.

That pretty much did it for me too.
Giles is just too young right now for this situation. He has to learn how to pitch, not just come in and sling it.

Slowest man on the team bunts, then Springer Ks quickly.  So, no.

ball outside, ball up and out,  fly ball to Taylor in center.   3 outs.

Dodgers win 6 - 2.

Astros just played one of the worst games in team history.  Hope they pick themselves up off the floor tomorrow.  Keuchel and Verlander need to pitch the absolute games of their careers. Wasted a valiant effort by Morton tonight. The stench from the offense was putrid and Giles went out on the hill to toss batting practice to the dodgers.

How can they win this thing without a bullpen?
Like they won game seven against the yanks and game 3 against the dojers. Verlander will be throwing a complete game regardless of how many innings it goes.

I know Musgrove gave up the homer and some runs tonight. But I still trust him more than ken giles. Giles needs to be shut down for the season. Where is mchugh though, like seriously, where is he?

That's what I want to know. He pitched good in his appearance against the Yankees. My plan for this game would have been to duplicate what happened last night by going from Morton to McHugh to finish it. Since Hinch screwed the pooch tonight, that damn well better be the plan tomorrow, though with a day of rest Peacock may be available as well.

That’s what I’ve been wondering. That game in the ALCS didn’t earn him any faith? Not to mention how he finished out the regular season.

I would literally rather see anyone else than Giles going forward. Even Liriano. Fuck it, if JD Davis was on the roster even him.

When Springer went yard, I thought we had a great chance.  But the plan seemed to go to the regular bullpen roles --- that was always destined to be a risky strategy.

I do think we can look at McCann, and be thankful for his ability to get the best of out the staff.  Tonight was a gem by Charlie.

Forsythe doesn't get that hit and maybe the dojers keep pressing.

I definitely agree that he should not pitch again until spring training. Will he ever be a closer? Remains to be seen. He has to learn how to pitch. To me he seems to just come in and sling it. Too soon to talk about next year but we may have to develop other options going forward.

As much as I've never been a fan of his I'd still pitch him this series.  It would have to be no later than the 8th, preferably earlier.  Never in the 9th or extras unless no one is left.

If he doesn't pitch again though if you're the GM how can you keep him?

When this is over, if they don't invest in the bullpen in the off season they're not as good of a front office as I think they are.  I know in the past they've had trouble getting people to come to Houston.  That can't be the case now.

I’m sure in a few weeks we will hear that it turns out Giles had some injury or other - “rest, no surgery, he should be ready for Spring Training” in an attempt to salvage some of his psyche and/or value for next year.

But by no means should they proceed as if he’s the closer.

Does the GM pressure the Manager to use his pet project? Seriously, didn't know that happens. I am sure guys sometimes get at bats and starts because a lot of money is being paid to them, but they also play because a GM is proud of a trade? And in the World Series? The Verlander trade establishes Luhnow as the Sultan of Swap, doesn't need Giles to succeed to look fucking awesome.

Well they could have won with just the one hit.

I saw a stat that said the Astros had 10 batted balls of 95mph or higher but only the 2 hits.  Balls hit that hard are more often hits than outs 80% of the time.  Some bad luck there.

Well they could have won with just the one hit.

Sure, it's possible to get no hit and win. But run that strategy out there and see how it works. A couple of well struck balls found leather, but by and large the Astros did not have good at bats. They were patient, got ahead in the count, and its like they went into protection mode, like they were down 0-2. Lots of weak swings. Didn't help that Wood was getting 4-6 inches up, down, in and out.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.
