Springer: Hill falls behind 2-0, evens the count,  then loses Springer on 2 balls nowhere near the zone.

Verlander on the mound.

Taylor fouls off first pitch,  takes ball 1 high, then ball 2, fouls a fastball in the upper zone, then whiffs on a fastball in the outer half of the plate.

Pretty serious uppercuts on all of them, like he's hoping to be on the same trajectory as the curve.

We had the chance to have him questioning his existence in the first inning, and then Bregman popped up. Not great.

Top 3

Josh laces an 0-1 pitch to second,  which is kindly booted allowing Marwin to reach.

Ruled a hit.

Verlander then executes a sac bunt,  Marwin to second.

1 out.

Bregman laces first pitch to center diving effort rewarded by the ball bouncing off his pumpkin head straight into the mitt of his leftfielder preventing more damage.

Reddick scores.

Runners on 1st/2nd.

Yuli takes an inside strike,  lays off a ball way outside,  then another way high and outside,  whiffs on a FB shorn the middle,  takes ball 3 way inside,  and takes a close,  close curve just off the outside .

Yuli to 1st

McCann falls behind 0-2 (Strike 2 was a bit low), fouls off a high FB similar to the one that got him earlier, takes ball 1 way outside,  ball 2 is another curve that is outside and squirts away (PB) to advance Yuli to 2nd, next pitch is a shallow fly, Yuli stays on 2nd.

1 out.

Marwin takes strike 1, fouls a curve for strike 2, then looks at an 89 mph meatball for strike 3.

2 outs.

Marwin has to do better than that with 1st open.

Don't understand inability to at least spoil that pitch when you see its not a bender.  Not like Hill has a slider to drop off the table.

 Bottom 4

Taylor fouls a high FB, then a lower one,  lays off a slider the dirt, and another,  fouls a FB back,  McCann puts down the pinkie,  the pitch is low for ball 3, the payoff pitch is fouled of his front leg (FB), then ball 4 high/ inside.

Taylor to first.

Bregman falls behind taking one/ swinging at one,  stays alive fouling a 96 mph FB, dribbles a ball just foul down 3B line, gets a new bat,  digs back in,  barely checks his swing,  fouls off a high 95 mph heater,  takes a slider low/away, takes ball 3 way inside,  and finally flies out to deep left just shy of the track.

Well, he has been getting screwed in the strike zone since hitting LALA land.

Flailing seems to be appropriate given you cannot work the count in this environment

Puig fouls a high FB, takes one inside,  foul tips  FB for strike 2, lays off a breaker low, excuse me fouls an inside FB, finally bounces out to Correa,  6-3.

2 out.

Pederson takes 2 balls,  fouls off the next one,  then drives a hanging  breaker over the wall in right to tie the game.

Pederson celebrated the fuck out of that trip around the bases. I don't think I've ever seen a big leaguer dance that much.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Top 6

Maeda still in

Correa falls behind 0-2, lays off a low pitch,  then another,  stays alive on a foul tip,  then lines a single to left.

Taylor takes a FB high,  takes another ball,  misses a breaker,  takes another for strike 2, takes a slider just outside,  finally walks in a close,  close pitch low/outside.

Taylor to first.

Keuchel got squeezed like that and it turned a solo homer into a 2-run homer.  Same again tonight.  Fuck the fucking Dodgers.

Seager fouls first pitch,  JV throws to first,  next pitch a strike on the corner (samepitch as ball 4, blue), back to first, and again, ball 1 is just inside,  then drives a fastball into the left field seats.

2 runs score.

Still 2 out.

I would like to hear more this EXACT kind of analysis by the people who announce the game ---- its pretty clear both our pitchers got squeezed.

Why always us?

Morrow in.

Reddick fouls one,  fouls a straight 97 mph heater to fall in the hole,  fouls another ( pitch missed the target), then grounds into a 5-4-3 double play.

Gattis hits for Verlander

Takes ball 1, swings/ misses on a low heater, takes a curve for strike 2, lays off another one low,  then hits a hit shot to 3rd that turner snags on the line,  throw not in time/ skips away , Gattis stays on 1st.

First pitch

Not true. First pitch was something that he's been flailing at recently, but watched this time. I took that as a good sign. Alas...

JV gives up one hit through 5 2/3 and then Taylor AB -- ump squeezes him (as if the dodgers have not been getting close framed calls) --- and its effects on Altuve --- and once again Seager AB - strike three was right before the dinger...

Such fucking bullshit.

 Bottom 7

Will Harris in (Verlander 6 IP, 3 runs, 2 hits)

Bellinger gets a breaker for a strike,  lays off another low,  takes a FB on the outside for strike 2, next one is a 58 footer, ball 3 steps in the zone high but called a ball,  payoff pitch is grounded to Bregman in the shift at short,  throw is low and muffed by Yuli. E5.

Puig falls behind 0-2, fouls one off, Harris keeping Bellinger close, next one fouled as Bellinger runs, next one is a58 footer that bounces off McCann, Bellinger adroitly takes 2nd on the WP, next one fouled off, Puig steps off twice getting info grin the runner,  then grounds or 6-3 advancing the runner to 3rd.

1 out.

Strom resets with Harris

Pederson misses a high FB, misses again on a higher one,  lays off the next high one,  lays off a good curve,  McCann confers, next pitch is another high FB that gets him swinging.

2 out.

 Morrow still on the mound.

Bregman lines a ball into theRF corner,  Puig dives, can't corral it, bounces into the stands for a GR double.

Runner on 2nd no outs.

Jansen coming in.

McCann takes ball 1 inside,  then strike 1up in the zone,  next one is high,  fouls the next one wide of 1B, checks his swing to get the count full,  strikes out swinging.

Mid 8
Astros 2
Dodgers 3

Everyone comparing this to 2005 and thinking this team is out of the series regardless of tonight’s outcome needs to grow a pair and sack up.  The Astros are capable of kicking any team in baseball’s ass for an extended stretch and that includes the Dodgers.
