ALCS Game 7

I am excited beyond belief.  Through Jim's generosity, I am ready to witness history.  I was so excited last night I couldn't sleep...after the game.  I am drinking a Love Street and smoking a Jericho Hill box pressed maduro on the back patio, just like I did yesterday before heading to the yard.  Another Love Street and a Macallan 12 at 1820 to calm my nerves before meeting Jim and heading inside for another Love Street and taco.  No detail is too minor.

 I went to bed at 1 and woke up at 5 with absolutely nothing on the agenda for the morning.

Buddy of mine lis driving down now with his 13 year old son.   Kid has no idea what he's in for.

I just can't replicate yesterday. In addition to two servings of Frito Pie, I had 4 Hopadillos, 2 Lost Golds, 2 shots of Tullamore Dew 10 year single, and a large supper of grilled  zucchini and yellow squash, a green salad, a 14 ounce NY Strip, with a finish of Chocolate Coffee ice cream and glass of Port. Today I switch the steak with salmon, only have one serving of Frito Pie, and pray to the BBGs for their compassion.

I am so excited I can’t even think straight.  Many of you know that I am a foster parent with a long history of staring at the effects of the underbelly of our society. One of our girls is in in-patient care with visiting hours from 6-7pm and, while I will be fully present for our visit this evening, I’ll have the 8pm start time of tonight’s game firmly in 2nd place in my thoughts this evening. It’s funny, a game 7 barrier to the WS for my favorite team for the last 39 years is an exceptional balm for the troubles of this world. I am thankful for what the Astros have done this year and I am thankful for being able to share it with y’all.

One question for those watching at home, did ESPN show a replay Judge's catch?  It was a very good catch live, and at the game they showed the replay on the scoreboard.  I figure though that ESPN probably forgot to show a replay.

Funniest moment for me was when he led off an inning  later in the game he made a first pitch out so quickly they had to show the replay as he was settling back into the dugout.

In the postgame interview, Girardi's voice was breaking and getting real high-pitched, and he was close to tears. They were asking about his contract expiring and does he want to come back, and he was barely holding it together.

Girardi went to an office in the Astros’ clubhouse, waited out the celebration on the field, and stayed to congratulate Hinch and say he hoped we’d win it all.

Hinch said it taught him a lot about how he wants to carry himself.

We have all seen managers who would have sworn up and down it was interference,  thinking that bitching in the press somehow would get them more calls down the line.

He's a class guy,  good baseball man.  I thought Farrell's comments after the ALDS were likewise classy and I was sorry to see him fired in such a predetermined manner.   If Giardi doesn't come back I hope it's his choice.

So I'm in NY for work and I told a client after Game 5 what pissed me off the most about the Yankees/Astros series was that we had the better team at almost every position.  I said there's only 1 Yankee I would trade straight-up for: Judge (I love you Reddick, please don't ever change).
I went to his house to watch Game 7 last night and apparently he told his teenage sons what I said before I got there.  I conceded the bullpen issue quickly, but once they started in on Gary Sanchez/Brian McCann I stood my ground.
Then he caught The Throw and then he hit The Double.  I've never looked so smart in my life.
