From WildDog’s FB Page.

Love this nugget:  Houston hitters went 49-for-147 (.333) during the series with a .402 OBP.

And most of those ABs were against top-name pitchers I might add.

Nice collection of notes and quotes.

That team OBP is impressive.

And as for the ejection,  go back and watch it.  As Farrell gets the ump separated Pedroia looks back and shouts something AGAIN which is immediately followed by the ejection. Farrell did a good job of protecting his player,  and the ump showed remarkable restraint. Since we all know managers still manage from the clubhouse,  impact ion the game was minimized.

Most umpires (not you, Joe West) are reluctant to toss a player in a playoff game. Farrell did a good job taking one for the team.

About 30 years, I was drinking with an NL umpiring crew in St. Louis, and we discussed this very point. And Coach is correct. This crew, to a man, said that they wouldn’t run a player in the playoffs unless the player went batshit crazy (that was the term they used) and gave them no choice but to keep control of the game, like Joaquin Andujar back in the 1985 World Series. Never EVER try to out drink a big league umpire; they have hollow legs.
