Opening Day Tickets
« on: October 10, 2017, 05:10:45 pm »
So, if we want to do a OWA group again, a ticket in the Terrace Deck Infield (300 level)section is $98 plus fees each.

Who's in?  This price is apparently good through 10/31/17.

I'll take three.  That seems like a bit of a price hike.  Are we playing the Yankees?

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Yes, I triple checked the price.

And no, they open against Baltimore.

So, anyone else interested in Opening Day??  So far, there are 13 going and I'm going to need to pay a deposit, so those of you committing will be asked to put some money in a bag for me.

There is still time to be included.

Regardless of how the series ends, Opening Day will probably be pretty special.

If it's like last year, you end up getting the tickets through you MLB at bat account, so if you've got one use that email.  Otherwise it's a mess to extract the tickets.  Not that I'd know anything about that.

Okay, the tickets are going to be $98 each and in section 315.  Unfortunately, we are next to each other but broken up a bit also.  Please send payment NOW, because I cannot afford to be out of pocket $3.430.00 for you all.

Send payment through Paypal to Leslie Pruski ([email protected]).  Make payment as a GIFT, otherwise you will then owe me for the service fee.

It's been interesting.  Apparently, there are quite a few new season ticket holders, especially in the 300 level.  The account representative from last year is on maternity leave and the one that picked up the account seemed to be dropping the ball, even though I followed up with him.  But Mick, came through and I bought a bunch of tickets today.  He was great to work with on getting the tickets.

So, if anyone needs to do a group, let me know and I'll hook you up with him.

My fiancé and I plan on attending but I heard a rumor we may be getting an assignment in Hungary so I may miss yet another opening day get-together.  I do still plan on making it even if I come from Europe but if we can’t make it, I’ll make the tickets available here.

BG, do you (or anyone) know when individual tickets go on sale? I'm looking at the possibility of making it to Opening Day.

Sounds like y’all got a hell of a deal. single game tix for opening day in the Terrace are $199.  Tickets for opening day are insane.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

I wanted to get tickets to the 2nd game but it appears they only accept TX and LA credit cards. I have a password if someone will be willing to get me 2 to game 2 on 4/3.

Well fucking hell. I got a password, got all the way to the payment page (tickets in section 112), and then it said they only accept payment from credit cards with a TX or LA address. I think that's discrimination against North Carolinians. No Paypal option either. So I'm back to having no tickets.

that seems really stupid about the credit cards.  someone wanting to come visit MMP from another state wouldn't be able to get tickets.

seems really stupid.

I get why they do it. They do it here too. It's to keep out the folks who buy up big chunks of seats and do travel packages for fans of northern teams. If you call the number posted they will sell to you.

Well  hot damn, I just tried again and it worked! They still had some good tickets that had been released. I am going to try not to think about how many hours I had to work for the baseball game tickets I just bought.

You too, Ty! Hope to meet all you fine people at one of the pre-game stops, assuming you're not all just Russian bots.

And yeah, the seats better be GOOD... given the occasion, and that we're coming all the way from NC for the first time in 10 years, I wanted to make sure I got decent seats.

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

What’s a ballpark app and how do I get my ticket?

No other way to get them. Check the App Store.

You should have received it now.

And that is why I want everyone to confirm!

Got it, thanks!

your account needs to be with your [email protected] email.

And I really think you can figure it out.  If I can figure it out, surely you can.

It is. Am I supposed to get an email?  Is it supposed to show up in my ballpark app?  Snide remarks aside, I’ve recieved neither.

I double checked the email.  I do believe you should get an email.  As I'm on the forwarding side I do not know exactly what you get.

The FAQ in the app says the recipient should receive an email with a link to accept the tickets, at which point they’ll appear in their ballpark app (or be instructed to download the app, if they don’t already have it). I can wait a while to see if I get an email. If not, we may need to try something else.

I'm going to retry - but to make sure it is the MLB ballpark app ( which I think is the one you have downloaded already) - I used the wrong one the first time I got tickets electronically.   I hope it works.  I've had two emails wrong so far, so maybe that was it.

And you should get it fast, as least MM and homer got the tickets quickly when I sent it to the right email.

A groupie

I'm pretty sure only Chuck has Groupies.

I figured with the game tied 1-1 in the 7th, with 2 outs, a 2-1 count, Altuve on second, and Correa at bat, we could all crowd up to the railing and have someone take our photo.

Outstanding idea. Or, you could spend half an inning arranging yourselves in a line up and down the aisle for photos of various significance. Maybe one shot in order of age, another in order of height, another in order of tenure on the board here, you know, mix it up. And don't worry, most of the people whose view you'd otherwise be blocking are probably off looking to buy ice cream out of a hat.

He certainly has a following. I'm in Bogota and was talking this afternoon with the delightfully charming guy who's been driving us around all weekend. He mentioned that he has a Colombian friend who married a guy from Houston. I said, that's funny I have a friend from Houston who married a Colombian lady. I was more amused than surprised that one of two people in Colombia with whom I've had more than ten minutes of conversation, and literally the first person I met when he picked us up at the airport, knows Chuck. Chuck, Fernando Uribe says hola.

Just a nit...that's 2:35 CDT...we just sprang forward.  Don't want anyone to tune in during the top of the 5th inning.

Not sure.  Maybe one of those places around MMP?  What's that place we met before the postseason games...1836 Bar or something like that?

1820 but their TV isn't very big.  What about Flying Saucer, they have the big screen?  I think Lucky's (by the Dynamo stadium) has a big screen too.

Either one would work.  Lucky's is where I've gone to watch UH games, they have lots of TVs and food.  And Love Street, which is now my...wait for it...lucky beer.  I vote for Lucky's!
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Easy for me to get to from UH!!!  I am going to a lecture on campus that ends at 2:00 but will head that way right after.  Anyone else going to join us?

Biggio's might be fun.

Biggio's is kinda "upscale".  Not that there's anything wrong with that, but this is more of "let's sneak you in the back door so the decent folks don't see you" kind of crowd.

Then I’ll blend in nicely. The downtown proximity helps make it likely I’ll be able to join. If lucky’s doesn’t work for some reason, there are several other bars in that area with TVs, including a Woodrow’s.

8th wonder brewery also has a good setup, but the beverage options are obviously limited to their offerings.

You know this place. Somebody has to get mad at somebody else before a decision can be made.

Great to hear from you.

No one.  Even last night, I called my mother and she said "I'll call you back later, I'm talking to your sister."

So Lucky's it is!

I'm not excited about meeting me most days, but thank you from my heart. My plans are to be there. Everyone's company is a true gift to me.

I am so excited for y'all.  It seems like it's been a decade since I was at OD with everyone.

If I start planning now, maybe I can make it happen for next year.....

..and now I can't download my ticket. I'm logged into my mlb.com account, using the password sent to me when I accepted the ticket, but I'm stopped at the "my tickets" page by what appears to be a completely separate log-in. It refuses my e-mail and password and tells me to log in with a "patron id." No idea what that is...

EDIT: I was able to download it with the mobile app. Their desktop site is completely broken atm.

Were you able to see the ticket when you accepted it? The patron account is the ticket account that is linked to your MLB account.

Yeah, I viewed it with no issues the day I accepted it, and did not need an additional login.
Their website appears to be borked right now, I was getting lots of error spam and requests for nonsensical stuff.

Luckily the mobile app is working fine.

Hey OWAers, I wanted to check if there might be an extra OD ticket floating about. My friend would like to bring his nephew along if there is a ticket available. I know it's a longshot but I thought I'd try. PM me if you can help. Thanks!!
