Texans-Jags

The O-line is certainly putting the "offensive" back in the term. Savage is no good, but he has no chance out there.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Duane Brown is loving it. But if they don't find s left tackle, they won't score an offensive point all season.

And J.J. Watt is getting manhandled.

And Savage benched one half into the season.

I think they had to put Watson in there just because he's more likely to be able to evade the first wave of linemen, even if he does nothing else. Savage was going to get killed.

On the bright side, if they keep playing like this they'll have the first pick

in the 3rd round

These fucking idiots are getting everything they deserve. And so are the fans who insist on continuing to donate to the disgusting freak of an owner.

If the owner gave a shit about winning games he'd hire a good coach.

And an offensive coordinator.  And a non-middling general manager.

Smith would have to nail every pick of his next 5 drafts to elevate to "middling"

Is he the decision maker at the drafts?  I always assumed he just handled the paperwork and the head coach at the time had the final say in who gets picked.

I'm not sure what qualifies O'Brien for a head coaching job other than his butt chin, but let's not pretend that McNair's retainment of Rick Smith for a decade didn't reveal his lack of giving a shit about winning far before this BOB situation has.

From what I've heard and read, no one has a great sense for how the chain of command works for the draft, but I think circumstantial evidence indicates Rick is very involved. When there was some bickering over Smith apparently getting involved with the roster a few years ago (I think over BOB not wanting to put Mallet on the roster and thus have no back up QB when he missed the team plane), BOB or some of his lackeys leaked that BOB has language in his contract that he controls "the 53" and that Rick was infringing on his territory. Reading between the lines, I think that likely means Rick has more sway in determining the players that BOB then manages, but I do think it's probably fairly collaborative with Rick having final word.

HBO's Hard Knocks seemed to bear out that Smith has the final say over personnel.  If I recall he had a 30-70 choice for the last man on the roster, and he picked the 30.  Three weeks into the season, his choice was cut and the 70 was brought in.  If I could be arsed, I'd look up who these players were...but I can't.

Absolutely the most depressing sports-related quote I've read in a long time.

A rookie DC and no OC....what could go wrong!
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Romeo's still very heavily involved with the defense.

So our offensive genius QB whisperer spent the entire offseason with Savage taking all the snaps with the 1st team.  It took 1 half of football for him to jettison everything they worked on.  I'd say it's unbelievable, but it's sadly just par for the course.

BOB will need replacement surgery for all the knee-jerking he does over QBs.

Can the suspension be retroactive to last week?
