WTF Sumlin?

I turned off the UCLA game with A&M up 38-10. How do you lose that game?

The game was a mIcrocosm of the last three seasons. Start off sharp and physical and end sloppy and soft. It's unbelievable.

Between UT, Baylor and A&M...wow.   All 3 of those things were once in a decade+ type events and all happened in 24 hours.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Objection: UT losing to an unranked team happens a couple times every year. Not that it doesn't hurt every time.

Unfortunately UT losing to Maryland isn't much of a surprise

When is the last time UT lost as a 18 point favorite at home?

I don't know, but that 18 point line is not a measure of the relative quality of the two teams, but a measure of of UT fans' expectations/excitement.

As a UH alum and fan, and as much as I'd like for Herman to have stayed....it's one game.  He's a good coach.  He will win at UT.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

That evening I was unhappy I had things to do and couldn't watch the second half.
When I woke up and read the news, I was very pleased I didn't.

I've seen predictions for the season ranging from 3-8 to 10-2. All of the later started off with a 5-0 run, and that's not happening now.  I've decided if we can beat Nichols State, ULaLa, and New Mexico, I'll call it good.  Sumlin will be looking for work, but I'm not going to let them damage my calm.  When I was A&M we tended to be surprised when we won a big game, and the season was a lot more fun. Now the expectations are so unrealistically high, everyone is bummed all the time.  I think everyone in the SEC West but us is in the top 25, as is one of our two SEC East game.

I hear that our old buddy John Chavis may be out by the end of the week.

That would be some serious panicking.

He cost an arm and a leg and the defense has been awful.  Last year too - not basing this off the single game.

An issue for Chavis and Sumlin is that they're both great recruiters, so there's no shortage of talent. That, in turn, raises expectations.

He may be a weirdo, but he has Texas going in the right direction. They showed a lot of improvement last night.
