So through two innings, the Astros have three hits, a walk, and two stolen bases...nothing to show for it

I just checked some college football scores. WTF Longhorns?

Oh, if you didn't watch it you missed some reallty remarkable stuff. Let's see if I can remember the highlights:

Interception.
Missed field goal.
Field goal blocked and returned for a touchdown.
Kickoff "fielded" by bouncing off the returner's shin.
Another kickoff "fielded" by bouncing off the returner's shin.

I'm sure I'm leaving out myriad other highlights. Charlie Strong had to be laughing his ass off.

Do our pitchers lead the league in hit batters? Seems like they have to lead in batters hit in a two-strike count.

Wow, Alabama just committed a horrible pass interference in the endzone that went uncalled. Nice to know that some things never change.

Astros pitchers don't seem to understand that a "waste pitch" should still be at least somewhat tempting to the batter.

I agree. It is almost like a leftie in the box screws with his head and he can't throw a strike.

Musgrove in...

I've got two large bottles of Balboa left over from last night. I'm about to finish the first. I haven't decided whether I'll wander down to the store and get something interesting or if I'll just move on to the cans of Atlas I have around.

T6:

Lagares doubles over Springer's head...Springer kicks it around and Legares gets to 3B on the E8
Cabrera...3-0...walks
Rosario...0-2...1-2...strikes out swinging

Peacock out, Liriano in

Smith...who's hitting .083 against lefties this year...3-0...lines to CF...Springer comes in and clanks it...another E8...Lagares scores, Cabrera to 3B, Smith to 2B on the two base error
Plawecki...infield in...0-2...lines out to 3B...saved two runs
Nimmo...3-1...walks to load the bases

Liriano out, Musgrove in

Checchini...3-0...3-1...pops out F2

Astros kick their dicks around a little, but manage to come out only down 1-0

Amazingly enough, we have 6 people living in a 3 bedroom apartment AND we have a spare room. Three older boys in together, baby still with us (but days away from eviction).

We are in the Upper East (which is terrible) - I just move wherever the preschool is.

We are in the Upper East (which is terrible)

I don't know what you're complaining about. You have a brand new subway line that only took 74 years to complete.

The fact that he's not constantly hitting on Julia puts him in an entirely different league from Ashby.

The Mets don't seem particularly interested tonight.

B6:

Bregman singles up the middle
Altuve...3-0...3-1 taking a whack at a fastball...walks...Bregman to 2B
Reddick singles to RF, Bregman scores, Altuve to 2B
Marwin singles to RF...Altuve rounds 3B, ball beats him by 20 feet, but somehow he eludes the tag to score, Reddick to 3B

That's it for Lugo...Robles in

McCann...0-2...chops to 3B...Reynolds thinks about home, but opts for 1B as Reddick scores on the 5-3 ground out...nobody bothered to cover 3B and Marwin slides in safely
Davis...0-2...1-2...2-2...sac fly to CF...Marwin scores
White...pops to 3B, but the ball rattles around in the rafters for a foul ball...and eventually lines out to CF, as Lagares falls down

But the Astros knock the ball around a little...lead 4-1

Kalas is not terrible like Ashby, but he is quite terrible in his own way. Blum is excellent.
Kalas has two things going for him. 1) He's not Ashby. 2) His vocal tonality (he sounds great on the MLB.com Highlights Videos).
His banter can sometimes be embarrassingly lame. And is disregard of the BBGs is troublesome.

Reynolds grounds out 4-3
Aoki taps back the mound...again...Musgrove deflects it to Bregman, who barehands it and fires to 1B where White whiffs at it....E3
Lagares...0-2...1-2...2-2..strikes out swinging

4-1 at the stretch

Is this the Crisco origin story?

Completely different set of skills.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I like how the Crisco story has become part of OWA lore.
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it

Florence Henderson is the Wesson Oil story.  The Katie Couric/Rachel Ray story is completely different.

Verlander sure looks good in an Astros uniform.

A guy who lived on my floor freshman year had a huge thing for Connie Chung. HUGE. To my recollection he never mentioned anything about cooking oils but if he did I would imagine it would be sesame.
