Rangers get an unearned run in the first. 1-0 Rangers.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Bottom of the first...Springer singles. Bregman strikes out swinging on a 3-2 pitch, Springer was running, makes it easily but is called out for batter interference, even though there was no contact. Hinch arguing and is tossed.

Bregman lost his balance after a swing and interfered with the throw down on Springer. Altuve promptly knocks the shit out of the next pitch. Tied 1-1.

Altuve then homers to left field to tie it up.

Point of order:  that was batter interference. Catchers interference is when the catcher interferes with the batter.

It was within the rule. You rarely see something that minor called, particularly when the catcher had no chance at throwing out the runner.

It was very much a "hey the fans paid to see me", Angel Hernandez type call.

At the minimum, he's a better base runner than anyone on the roster.

Has not been better than Fisher at the plate in 2017. Definitely better on the bases, assume better in the field as well.

Giles still in for the 9th.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Better BA, right? What is worse?

Little better batting average (.235 vs. .218), very slightly better OBP (.333 vs. .325), little worse slugging (.351 vs .375). Pretty much a wash this year - Cameron Maybin had a pretty good year last year, but a bit of an outlier.

In any event, if he's free why not.

Was the Bregman play as good as Sparks made it sound?  He seemed extremely excited.

Yep, hard hit and a sudden high hop.

Nice piece of hitting by Bregman

Bregman is one Astro who hasn't looked worn out.

Expect he'll enjoy getting locked back into 3B in Sept.

It was a pretty hot smash that really came up on him. It was a blue star play.

That's a huge win. They really needed that.

Now get home and see your families.

Big time performance by him,  and kudos to AJ for making the call (from the tunnel).  Team really needed that W.

Nice to see Giles step up and take the ball for 2 innings a couple times recently.

Sometimes though Altuve's situational hitting has been excellent.

I was three innings into the game that started at 7 before I realized it wasn't live. Now I know what's happened, that first inning home run by Altuve's not as exciting.

Trade?  When the trade deadline rolls around tomorrow I'll check the papers.
