Arrest that man!
Everyone's talking, few of them know
The rest are pretending, they put on a show
And if there's a message I guess this is it
Truth isn't easy, the easy part's shit

What a murderer's row.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Altuve saw ZERO strikes per the pitchtrax, and struck out on a full count swinging.

Comment was somewhat tongue in cheek. The 1 for 4 I can live with. The constant swinging at pitches that aren't even close that he couldn't hit with the paddle end of an oar are another story.

Can someone explain to me when it became legal to score multiple runs in an inning? This is confusing.

It's been a long time since the Astros have dropped a bunch of extra base hits on a pitcher early in the game.

An advantage of playing younger guys. They may not have an experienced player's moves, but they're ready to go again much sooner.

T2:

Reddick strikes out swinging
Davis...0-2...1-2...doubles to RCF
Stassi doubles down the LF line, Davis scores
Marisnick flairs a single to RF, Stassi to 3B
Peacock...infield back...bunts through the first two meatballs...strikes out looking at a ball in the dirt, which frankly is probably the best things
Springer doubles to RCF...Stassi scores, Marisnick scores
Bregman triples to RF, Springer scores
Wild pitch!...Bregman scores
Altuve singles to RF, but denied an RBI because of the wild pitch
Gurriel flies out F8

But the Astros bat around...lead 5-0

T3:

Reddick pops out F6 on the first pitch
Davis...0-2...1-2...hit by pitch on the foot
Stassi...0-2...1-2...flies out F9 at the track...Davis tags and moves to 2B as Martinez gets caught flatted footed in RF...drifted back on that ball instead of getting under it
Marisnick intentionally walked
Peacock doubles down the RF line...Davis scores, Marisnick scores
Springer...0-2...1-2...flies out F7

Astros tack on a pair...7-0

Can someone explain to me why grown men feel the need to cheerlead at a baseball game?

Last night was some fuckstick screaming "swing" at every pitch. Today two dingleberries leading "Let's go Phoenix" chants while down 8-2.

He's got a good arm, but he looks a little overwhelmed...like the game is too fast for him at this level.  I think that'll improve with experience.

Stassi has always been a good receiver.  Both Centeno and Stassi are better catchers than McCann and Gattis.  Neither can hit as well though.

Trying to score more runs.  Though it's unlikely Martes would have hit into a double play

He's got a good arm, but he looks a little overwhelmed...like the game is too fast for him at this level.  I think that'll improve with experience.

The botched DP cost a run and got Peacock out short of 5.

Liriano in to try to close it out...

Drury...3-1...walks
Rosales, pinch hitting for Hoover...lines out to SS
Descalso...3-2...walks, Drury to 2B
Marte strikes out swinging
Pollock grounds into FC...Rosales out 6-4 at 2B

Astros win 9-4!

I don't think he's retired a left handed hitter with the Astros.  He faced like 10 of them, and they've all reached base.

I'm actually pretty high on Liriano as a future asset. (Asset.) I bet the team would feel a lot better about running him out there every third day to try to figure out this one inning business if they still had a commanding lead over the rest of the league.

At the game today. Fair amount of Astros fans. Arizona doesn't get much vocal support from its fans.
Davis looked slow reacting to balls hit down the line. He made a nice play tagging at first on a deep fly by Marisnick, running on Martinez. Liriano looks like he is trying to throw the ball through the backstop. He had a big strikeout of Marte on a nice changeup. I didn't know that he had the pitch. Stassi looks confident and competent behind the plate and his homerun in the ninth was crushed.
When there is a runner on second, the Arizona third base coach moves about half way toward home and turns his back on the batter. I have never seen that.
Martes was dominant - high gas and sharp slider.

Among pitchers with 90+ IP  Peacock's  11.75 K/9  trail only Sale, Kluber and Schertzer.

With RISP and 2 out you may want Springer up to bat. .462/.570/.897 this year.

what did you think of the ballpark experience. I have only been in the bldg. during a non-game situation.

The facility, in my opinion, is generic and antiseptic. The seats are adequate. The Arizona fans do not seem engaged with the game, only the between inning entertainment stunts. On that point, to be fair, I have seen only one other regular season game there, a couple of years ago, one in which the Astros scored 20+ runs. Neither game was competitive. Traffic flow to and from the field is swift and efficient. There is $12.00 parking in a high rise garage directly across the street from the main entrance.
