Not what I said.
"Lack of major league talent."
Elsewhere you said the team will not win 90 games.
Poor play got us behind 5-3. Bad luck kept us from tying it 5-5.
I said the that if they continue to run out the same group of guys they have had to the last week they will not. And yes, the talent level is significantly lower today than it was two months ago. White and Reed are simply not as good of hitters as Springer and Correa. Mike Fiers is not a one to one replacement for a healthy Lance McCullers. No matter how you slice it, this is not the same team right now that we saw mauling people in April and May. It's a different group of guys with a different dynamic, and it's not a good one. I know you know this.
Your GZ persona is ultra-critical negative hyperbole. Every strike taken is a "cookie." Every misplay is "Dick-stepping." Every ball that gets through is because of the shift. Liriano "cannot" get LH hitters out. Now the team lacks major league talent. There are no nuances or reasons to you. This amazes me because you played the game.
I try to call em like I see em in the GZ. If a guy takes a pitch down the middle for strike three or swings at a curveball in the dirt, I try to point that out. Likewise when a guy hits what would otherwise be a routine groundball that ends up a hit because of the shift I point that out too. I also often mention that a hitter is in a 3-0 or 0-2 count, or that he's worked the count full. I do this because I think it's 1) more descriptive for someone who isn't watching on TV, and 2) material to the situation. But it's not as if I don't also point out when a guy makes a diving catch, or a ball that is hit hard right at someone. Again, I try to be descriptive. If you think I'm only negative and never point out the positive, then I'll disagree with you, but you see what you want to see.
Every team has a lull over 162 games. Hinch has not thrown up his hands and cried "It's over," and we should not either. If you want the last word as always, go for it. I won't reply.
No one has suggested that the team throw in the towel and give up. You and MM are the masters of hyperbolic strawmen. Not every criticism of a play or a player means that I want said player to be released, or that I don't think they'll ever win another game in the history of the franchise. Just a couple nights ago you said that even though Altuve has been hitting .500, he often hurts the team. I understood what you meant, but didn't go accusing you of giving up on the season. I wish you would extend me the same.
