AJ loves tinkering with the lineup and having the highest number of permutations every season. There is no other explanation, although I like the psychological element: show up, check the lineup card, go out and play.

Fisher lit that ball up and ended up with a triple that scores Beltran, even though he's towing a Chevy Caprice.

One of my friends had one of those things when we were in college. What a boat.

McHugh through six innings has given up one run on four hits. Eighty-two pitches. Pretty good.

McHugh through six innings has given up one run on four hits. Eighty-two pitches. Pretty good.

The one run he yielded was off a soft liner down the left field line that scored a runner from first. According to statcast, the ball had an exit velocity around 89 mph and similar balls were hits around 5% of the time. Nice to have McHugh back.

Good grief, Martes, that was dreadful. Now we'll be lucky to escape the inning with a tie.

Marwin botched why should have been a DP but at least an out, which would have kept the runner off 3B, but your point stands. Also, the degree of difficulty on Marwin's ground was increased by virtue of him shifting over behind second and the ball being hit to normal 2B double play depth (Altuve was closer to first).

Marwin definitely botched that one. He was trhing to get a double play that wasn't there, when we really needed an out.

The Tigers' nine hole has been a pain in the Astros' staff's ass so far this series.

This bullpen does not inspire tremendous confidence.

Also - still not a huge fan of the shift.

When is the last time we threw out a base stealer?

Inning finally over, but now the 'Stros trail 4-3 heading to the 8th. Time for the bats to wake up.

I distinctly remember Castro throwing someone out in May of 2013.

This bullpen showed a lot of promise early in the season, but it's a dumpster fire now.

Of course there may be significant changes between now and then but this team will have a hard time winning a post season series.

It's beat. I hope the return of Keuchel and McHugh ease the load on the BP and bring back the sharpness.

This bullpen showed a lot of promise early in the season, but it's a dumpster fire now.

August is going to hurt.
Hopefully by September most/all of the injured people will be healthy and fully up to speed, and they can abuse the expanded roster to eat innings and rest the pen.
But that latter part only works if they still have a sizeable lead.
When the Clark is dead, Spack will eat his spleen. Before he dies, Spack will put his posts under the knife so the Clark will see his threads wiped out forever...

I don't think that worked out the way AJ was hoping.

You have to try these things. Martes will learn from it and be better next time. The HBP hurt, then Marwin messed up a potential DP. I feel bad for Martes. Without the HBP, he might have claimed the 7th inning role.
