He is incredibly odd, and he's been there forever. I have no explanation.

At HH's suggestion, tonight I shall forego my usual scotch and drink bourbon instead. I hope that will be enough to keep Cano at bay.

Excellent.  I'm having bourbon myself.  Not sure of the cigar I'll start with though.  But just got off the tractor and i'm fucking wiped out.

I've been up since 3:10 am for no fucking reason other than the kick back from finally going to bad at a decent hour after three late nights watching the west coast swing, and i feel alternating spells of exhaustion and flights of energy, although that could also just be caused by the tug and pull between the 6 shots of espresso and four glasses of wine I've enjoyed so far today.

B1:

Segura...2-0...skys one down the RF line...Reddick with a good bid falling into the stands, but just out of his reach...2-2...lines a single to RCF
Gamel strikes out swinging
Cano lines out to CF...ball smoked pretty good, but right at Springer
Cruz...quickly 0-2...grounds into FC, Segura out 5-4

1-0 Astros

Tonight I bought three locally brewed bottled stouts. Actually, I don't think all of them are local. But it doesn't matter. I'm usually not crazy about any stout other than Guinness. And I'll drink Guinness only in optimum conditions.

This first one is a little spicy for me and not very creamy. It's supposed to be chocolatey but fortunately I'm not getting much of that.

I'm about to, just deciding on a flavor. I have maracuyá, guanabaná and nance. I'm leaning towards the guanabaná.

Never been much of a stout man. I love IPAs and Belgium abbey styles.

Well, me neither, other than Guinness, which is hands down my favorite beer, but as I said I'm an insufferable snob about where I drink it. Shocking surprise, I know.

I love most IPAs but I've never been able to develop much of a taste for Belgian ales. If that's a personal failing then I'll embrace it.

I miss the drama surrounding the baserunners' attempts to break up double plays. Now a double play looks a lot like the NFL Pro Bowl.

Bases juiced, 1 out. Musgrove needs to step up and make some good pitches.

He's certainly not inducing weak contact

A friend of mine here is a Mariners fan. He lived in Seattle when he was a kid and his family had some reason to flee the dictatorship. No idea why the ended up in Seattle. Maybe Concacaf was in charge of their immigration. Anyway, I know he watches all the games, usually on his phone, so when Jose hit the first inning bomb I sent him a mocking message.

He replied, Desagradable ese enano - What a disagreable midget. Or, more charitably, What an annoying little guy.

Welp. I guess it's time to check other scores. Angles lose to the Red Sox 9-4. Looks like Arlington shat the bed in the bottom of the 9th and ruined a gem by Darvish. Agent Torreyes did something to make it a walk off for the Yanks in the 10th. I can't wait to pour over those highlights right before I go to bed and wash away this stink bomb.

I wonder what kind of silly Houston crap the out of town broadcast team features when the visiting teams come here.

Humidity readings?

It's amazing how when it looks like the team's going to lose most everyone scurries the fuck out of here.

I imagine most people had better alternate Friday night activities than watching that game.

The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

The late start doesn't help.  My ass was beat when the game started.

This particular GZ habitue is in Ireland and is dearly appreciating the PBP.

Has Ireland been profiled on the forums? Rowdy ass pubs that, upon closing at midnight (midnight), are rife with handsome tucked-in guys and big-legged Irish girls. Everyone smokes, billboards aren't, people don't wear glasses, and little provision is made for them who'd dry their hands in bathrooms. Also of course the driving on the other side is deeply strange.

As a first time ocean-crosser, I am amazed by the ubiquity of Americans.

Also amazed by the "full Irish" breakfast.

Anyhow, fuck the scurvy fucking blighted fire ship from Seattle.

A lot of damn business you have talking shit about where other people live.

I'm habitually up in the middle of the night anyway. I find that's when I do my best tweeting.

I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

There was a moment last night on Merrion Row, outside O'Donoghues, that I whispered to my wife: "Oh look: skanks!"

We don't see gangs of them roving in North Carolina, trying for a taxi and experiencing the road. She said, "Oh wow, her tit fell out." I nodded.

Now we're in Ballydehob at an Air B&B. Cows and such. Glorious. Twice we've driven in and once out and we haven't repeated a path yet.

It's amazing how when it looks like the team's going to lose most everyone scurries the fuck out of here.

I was exhausted from all of the games earlier in the week. I apologize for looking like a fair-weather fan, but when last night looked like a lost cause, I decided to catch up on some lost sleep.
