He's hitting bombs off of RHP and has earned more time. Plus in Oakland you need your good OF to cover ground.

Reddick walks on four pitches.  Gray has absolutely no command, two pitches have already gotten past the catcher.

Springer's HR was 431 feet, 109mph exit velocity

Altuve lays down a bunt between the mound and 3B, Healy's throw pulls Alonso off the bag at 1B.  Altuve would've beaten the throw anyway.

Perhaps Sonny Gray set up a private server to communicate directly with Ground Control and is colluding with the Astros to drive down his value.

For you kids watching at home...Gray was the one who cut the throw to the plate on Bregman's single.  He should not be anywhere in front of the plate on that play.  Lollygagging.

It's possible.  He didn't miss it by much.  Looked to me like it hit the wall level with his glove, just a couple inches to the side.

Looked to me like he lost that in the sun at the last second. It seemed catchable... but my feed is pretty shoddy.

He didn't get to quite the right spot: the ball was a foot or so further to his left than he thought. I think he would have caught it up if he had been over a foot or so.
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

Watched it again and the ball actually hits just beneath his glove. He had just run into the only section of right field that still had some direct sunlight hitting it.

Overall Reddick has been a very good addition to the team, one of Luhnow's better moves, I would say. But that was an uncharacteristically terrible play. He didn't seem to be anywhere near full speed during the first half of his route. I wonder if the ball got lost in the lights. It didn't look like it was hit high enough for that.

After that first inning...Gray has been dealing.

Yeah, I wouldn't have believed you if you told me then that he was going to make it through at least 5 innings.

I think the ball was tailing off a lot more than he anticipated.

On a full count, Lowrie strikes out looking on a down-and-away pitch that probably should've been ball four.  I'll take it.

END 5th: 5-3 Astros.

I'm out.

Something Brady making his big league debut

Beltran gets one in the wheelhouse welcomes Brady with a towering homer to right
Yuli pops up to short
Bregman pops in foul territory to Alonso, pretty nice play
Marisnick hit by the pitch
Springer to the plate, Marisnick takes off and is out at 2nd

8-4 as we head to the bottom of the 9th

Dayan Diaz in to pitch

Phegley doubles off the wall in right
Rajai Davis hits a missile toward 3rd and Bregman with a great grab 1 out
Rosales goes down swinging on a nice slider. 2 out
Brugman full count, strikes out swinging but reaches on a wild pitch.
1st and 3rd 2 out
Pinder full count, line drive to short but correa with a leaping grab!! Great play!
Ball game 8-4 win

He is 40 fucking years old! There is nothing sad about his slowing down with age.
