Just a beautiful tribute to Jeter, with back-to-back jacks to start (aka #2), George blasting it into monument park, and then our #2 hitting an homage grand slam.

Morton? He's thrown 95-97 all year, not that surprising to see him touch 99.

What a shame the Jeter in booth appearance was marred by the Astros chasing the NY starter to a chorus of boos.

There's a significant difference between 95 and 99. I've watched most if not all of his starts this year and this is not the same guy I've been seeing. And it's not just the velo.

I will guess yes simply because there always seems to be asst least one contrarian writer,  even if the argument is 'nobody has been unanimous before.'

ButI would not put pine vent against it.

I feel like you could create an entire new hall of fame consisting of players that should have been unanimously voted in. It's a silly feature of the process.

Today, both games, is the most aggressive I've seen Feliz. He usually throws alot of sliders.  Today alot of heat. I likee.

No worries. I think my sarc-meter was actually set too high. The last Lagunitas likely fixed that. I'll be curious who pitches the 9th. For whatever reason this still feels like a save situation to me....

This feels strangely alarming for a weekend where our team took 3 of 4 from a good team on the road...

Our bullpen is... not very good.
This feels strangely alarming for a weekend where our team took 3 of 4 from a good team on the road...

So far this is the theme of the season. They don't always look good doing it but they just keep winning.

I thought you were going to say the theme of this season is bitching when the Astros have the best record in baseball.

Correct answer.

Good teams make good plays.  The Yankees are a good team full of dangerous hitters; they managed to take one game (the game we all probably assumed would be a loss going in), built a late rally mostly against a guy who just came up from AAA in another game, and had another late rally bested by defense.  The Astros are also a good team and took three out of four against one of the best teams in baseball this season, including torching one of the Yankees' best pitchers this season.

Not trying to explain away Sunday's bullpen shenanigans, but I'm not overly worried.

You're right. The bullpen was fantastic yesterday.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

And there were major league hitters facing them.  Sometimes, it just doesn't work out.  Those wins the Astros came back to win from down 5-0, etc?  I don't recall too many people here claiming the Astros only won because the opponent's bullpen had a meltdown.  I think it was something like, "Our hitters are clutch!"

Oh yeah, and the team they were facing had the best record in baseball prior to the Astros playing them.  Point is, there's no reason to shit a brick every time something doesn't go right.  I don't think you would be happy unless the Astros went 162-0.

You misunderstand. I'm an Astros fan. I don't give a shit when the other teams' bullpen melts down. In fact, I'd love to see it every game.

No you're right. Yesterday was a thing of beauty. If the Astros win just one game, it'll be the greatest year of my life.  Thank you for showing us the way. From now on its all sunshine and unicorn shit.

That was sarcasm, in case anyone couldn't tell.

Quite certain. I haven't been a total sunshine pumper like you, but I'm working on it.
