You're da man, Mr. Happy!

Thanks for keeping the GZ fire burning.  I hate these west coast trips.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

Altuve deciding that bunting in top 1 with no runners on and one out is his best option tells you all you need to know about the heart of the order right now.

This is good, this Altuve-to-right-field business. I recall from previous seasons' commentary that his pop always told him, Go oppo when you're struggling, and that this was the tack he continued to take as a pro.

Blum was right. The ump was the first person he picked up as he turned, and he threw it right at him.

I feel pretty sure I just saw two Correas in the dugout.

There might be more going on right now than meets the eye.

You know Springer smoked the shit out of a single when Marisnick has no prayer of scoring.

Radio feed, me. They've not mentioned crickets once, even as the screen exhibits A, B, C etc. of the locals out of water.

This Altuve shit meanwhile is pretty fucked. I am wondering how long it took him last year or the year before to reach the number of strike outs he's had already so far.

The WBC really fucked him up, I think. As was mentioned here, he's bad in the clutch. He never appeared to be having fun like other players--even like Feivel Odor on his own team, for instance. Seems he never got a nice relaxed segue into this season.

After a half inning in which Astros K'd and popped out...

Bottom 7th, Harris pitching:

Carlos Ruiz watches strike three.
Motter, who'd hit the hardest ball all night, doubles.
Dyson would have struck out on 2-2 except meat computer missed it--pops out to left nevertheless.
Haniger (who's giveth), walks. Wasn't close. Maybe we should talk about Will. Cano to bat.
Cano, on a 1-0 count, flies out to MarGo, neither deeply nor frighteningly.

We advance to the 8th, good guys up by 3.

Casey Fien in to pitch for the Lubberly Tars. Off getting his butt handed him by the Angels couple days ago in a 9th inning if you haven't seen you oughta.

MarGo grounds out 4-3.
(Says Robert Ford: "Looks like [Luke Gregerson'll] have the 8th.)
Gurriel directs a grounder up the middle for a single.
Gurriel gets picked off because of Gomez curse.
Marisnick walks.
I don't know, does someone have the intestinal fortitude to look up how awful we are on the basepaths? 'Cause I don't!
Springer rolls out to third for the last out.

Gregerson in, whereas I think we can safely say if we apportioned relievers based on weighted yadda yadda this'd be Giles (assuming we thought Giles tops...)

Nelson Cruz does us the kindness of grounding meekly to Bregman after smashing a just-foul solo shot.
Kyle Seager walks on a 3-1 count on a pitch that looked frankly just fine to me.
Danny Valencia, Scourge of Astros 2016, K's swinging on three.
Leonys Martin rolls one to Gurriel at first.

We advance to the 9th.

Top 9, Casey Fein still pitching for the, I don't know, the poor saps what drunkenly fell to the press and got hauled off to Her Majesty's frigates and so forth,

News comes in that the Angels rallied unpredictably to force extra innings from the hated Rangers.

Your Alex Bregman K's looking on the 9th pitch of the AB, a 3-2 slider that maybe touched the strike zone.
Altuve doubles into the right field corner on a line--first extra-base hit of the season.
Altuve steals third, the 201st pinched bag of his career.
Correa grounds out to "a drawn-in Kyle Seager." No score.
Old Man Beltran drills a liner into center for a two-out knock and ribeye. 7-3 Astronauts.
(Seven runs a new season high.)
McCann K's swinging.

Giles is hilarious.

Use my unhittable stuff by throwing pitches around the strike zone? PFFFFFT.

We can only hope that Giles only gives up a game-tying home run and not the obvious game winning homer Cruz will hit if Cano gets on.

Fucking Giles in for bottom 9:

Mike Freeman (first MLB AB of year and 23rd I think of life), pinch-hitting, on (at last) a full count, walks on the tenth pitch.
Tayor Motter gets two balls and McCann goes out and then third ball. And then he doubles, Freeman stopping at third.
Strom to the mound. It's too bad about Giles.
Dyson pops out to Altuve for the first out.
Haniger gets a pitch thrown behind him, scoring Freeman and moving Motter to third.
Haniger walks.
This is unfortunate, what's happening here.
Runners on the corners for Cano.
Cano reaches on a fielder's choice 4-6. Run scores. 7-4 Astronauts, runners on the corners, Cruz stepping in.
(Am I alone in thinking that Brad Peacock might be a great late inning guy? And wouldn't that be the best thing?)
Nelson Cruz  pops out to Marisnick and the Astros win!

I suppose throwing the ball behind the batter does technically qualify as unhittable.

In great news, the Rangers gagged away a 3 run lead in the 9th and lost in the 10th to the Angels.

DELICIOUS.

These Angels...it's great how they're murdering heartlessly the other teams in the West...and how it doesn't make sense (of course it doesn't, it doesn't) that they could compete over the long haul with such a team as our Astros, but we're only stop-and-start OK and right now they ain't. Right now they're stomping on guys when they've no right to. Which is just the reverse, it seems, of what we do.

By the way, are thieves being thrown out at a massively higher rate than we're accustomed to?
