I hate to admit it but I think the Fucked Cubs win it. Hope not... maybe Kluber can summon a Bumgarnerian effort and Hendricks chokes.

For the sake of Mrs. Happy, I hope that you are wrong, but I agree with you. I think whichever team scores first will win.

That totally favors the Cubs since they get the first at-bat.  But, I think you are correct, that the FTC are going to win.  And I don't have to like it.  If that happens do you know how insufferable the USA will be?  It could be worse than what could happen on Tuesday.

I just self-published it.

I hope Kluber can be the same guy he has been all off-season.  Unlike the Cubs, the Indians star relief arms are all fully rested.  If Kluber can get through 6 solid, the Indians will have a decided advantage.

I remember Ashby's puzzling over why it is that the team that scores first is statistically more likely to win. Also, why limit the Astros' Mt Rushmore to four players.

I'm gonna miss that guy.

I will take the Wahoos too. Heard a stat last night the team with a 3-2 game lead won most of the time.

I'm pretty sure somebody insufferable will win Tuesday although I wouldn't be surprised to see the loser  contest it.

I do think that the Indians would have better mathematical odds if they had Lebron throw out the first pitch tonight instead of Thome.

Pete could have said Teddy Roosevelt was 51 the last time the Cubs won the World Series. Or how women wouldn't get to vote  for a president until 11 years after the last time the Cubs won the World Series. Instead him mentions Al Capone.

One day when you're telling you grandchildren about 2016, the conversation will turn to baseball.  No one will care that the Cubs won the World Series, but they'll say "Grandpa, did you REALLY get to see David Ross play?"

The last time the Cubs won the World Series, David Ross was just a rookie.

Surely Davis couldn't tie it with a home run.

Again.

Well, we now live a lifetime in which the Cubs have won a World Series.  It's a brand new day.
The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I love how Rizzo made sure to tuck the ball in his pocket before he ran to the dogpile. That dude wasn't losing his piece of history.

True.  Give a reasonably smart baseball guy an infinite amount of money, and they can work wonders.

Christ, I hate the Cubs. Almost everyone around me on a reasonably daily basis is a Cub fan, some of them bandwagoners and some of them with ties to Chicago or the midwest and they've been out in the open like roaches when the light gets snapped on. I've even got friends who work for the fucking Cubs. And now they're not going to shut up for what? Months? Until next season ends and they have something else to whine about?

All this 'Cubbie' this and 'Cubbie' that, and 'Fly the W!' Nobody heard of that shit until they got on their roll this year.

Fuck the Cubs.
I'm in love with rock and roll and I'll be out all night.

No shit.  There are so many more idiot cub fans than before.  I'd put money that they didn't watch a single game in the regular season.

Alex Rodriguez is a slimy fucker, Pete Rose seem less fucked up next to Alex.

Just before the show’s production meeting prior to Game 2 of the World Series last Wednesday afternoon, in a chilly, faux-wood paneled trailer in the shadows of Cleveland’s Progressive Field, Rodriguez huddled with a Fox researcher, discerning what opponents batted against the curveball of Indians starter Trevor Bauer. Rose, meanwhile, asked people if they enjoyed seafood, then revealed the masticated contents of his mouth. See it?

They have less than twice the payroll of the Astros so hardly an infinite amount of money.

Now pity the Dodgers....

Let's at least use some remotely accurate numbers: the Astros payroll was around $99MM (give or take a million or two) and NOT the silly $69MM figure shown in that link. The Cubs I believe were somewhere in the $170MM vicinity (ranking around 6th among all MLB teams).

They could easily triple the Astros payroll if they wanted.  If you're trying to paint the Cubs as some struggling mid-market team who through sheer grit and determination found some new innovative way to acquire guys like Lester, Zobrist, Heyward and Chapman, you're seriously barking up the wrong tree.

No, not trying to argue that at all.  Just taking a little issue with your "infinite dollars" thesis.   Seemed like sour grapes to me.

Do you think given an equivalent amount of money as the Cubs spent anyone could win the world series with as much regularity as Theo?

Sigh.  You're right, they do not have an "infinite" amount of money.  That would be illogical as that number does not exist, and the Cubs' payroll certainly can be calculated with real numbers.  I didn't really think anyone would take that to mean "infinity" in the literal sense.

I think if any team gives Theo the amount of money the Red Sox and Cubs have, they'll regularly win, and likely win a World Series or two.  The Cubs have always had money.  What they have now, that they didn't in the past, is smart people running their organization.  Having money doesn't guarantee anything, nor does having smart people.  But the combination of the two certainly gives you big boost.

I fully agree with this.  Hence my tip o' the cap...

I understand the past animosity towards the Cubs and I still think Wrigley should be blown up and that CubFan is insufferable.    All that said, this is NOT the team the Astros used to play.     Dare I say it, they are almost admirable.   I had a hard time coming up with any animosity towards either team in this World Series and for once was just able to enjoy great baseball.

So we're aligned.  My point all along was to comment on what spending money (particularly lots of it) wisely can accomplish, not to denigrate the accomplishment.  I've said all along, this is not your father's Cub team.

Like any team, they have guys who seem to be good guys, and guys who seem to be complete tools.  Every team has them.  And yes, CubFan is already insufferable.  In some whacked way, perhaps this will tone them down.  At least I hope.

Chapman is a tool, so if you're looking for a reason to hate the Cubs then there is your reason.
