Did the Indians finally abandon Chief Wahoo? Seems like he's been faded out. No formal announcement that I'm aware of, it just seems as if they quit using him on anything.

Kluber gave Correa a perfect pitch to go to RF with, and he passed it up, waiting for the opportunity to flail at a low outside slider instead. Which was only the second worst AB of the inning after Gurriel's flailing misery.

end of 6 Astros 4 Indians 1

Quote
On November 9, 1912, Carlisle was to meet the U.S. Military Academy in a game at West Point, New York, between two of the top teams in the country. Pop Warner spoke to his team: “Your fathers and your grandfathers,” Warner began, “are the ones who fought their fathers. These men playing against you today are soldiers. They are the Long Knives. You are Indians. Tonight, we will know if you are warriors.” That dramatic evening Carlisle routed Army 27-6. That game, played just 22 years after the last Army battle with the Lakota/Sioux at the Wounded Knee, not only featured Jim Thorpe, but nine future generals including a linebacker named Dwight D. Eisenhower.[66] "It was an exquisitely apt piece of national theater: a contest between Indians and soldiers."

I think Springer must have thought that last pitch was going to be the slider that breaks out of the zone. When it turned out to be the fastball that stayed on the outside corner, he was doomed.

He's looks to battle with two pitches, but they are damn good with top notch command.   Reminds me of Musgrove in his first few appearances.

Single, passed ball, wild pitch and a walk has Indians at the corners, one out and the winning run at the plate...

Throwing error by Gattis plates a run and puts the tying run in scoring position...still just one out.

At first I thought Gattis was an adequate defensive catcher. I don't think that anymore. Wow, that was absolutely awful.

Also, Giles is not a guy that should be closing for a contending team.

So what happened...I'm following in MLB.com, and it went from 1-0 on Guyer to "game over".  What happened?

Check swing grounder down first base line. 1-3. Very fortunate.

Who wants boring closers that just get people out 1-2-3?

Astros have the "Excitement Bullpen"!
Good win.

I think Giles will be just fine.  Gattis meeds a lot of work on preventing passed balls and wild pitches.  If Castro is healthy, he needs to come in for defensive purposes in situations like this.
Boom!

At first I thought Gattis was an adequate defensive catcher. I don't think that anymore. Wow, that was absolutely awful.

Also, Giles is not a guy that should be closing for a contending team.

second statement is more anti-Luhnow stuff and is wrong.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

He's 8 for 8 in save opportunities since being named closer in August.
