McCullers gets a 1-2-3 inning on 6 pitches, including a K.

Altuve singles with 2 outs but Correa grounder ends it.

End 1, 0-0.

Offense looks like shit again.

Get some fucking runs.  Don't need to see those late inning arms.

Bregman's defense has been a bright spot in two dismal efforts.

Offense looks like shit again.

That's entirely sensible after one inning against a very good pitcher.

Think they speculated a leg injury on the slide, or maybe with a lead, they are going to a defensive replacement, or maybe he's been traded.  Nothing official that I have heard.

Damn it, Jacksonian.

For those of you who do not remember Jeff Bagwell's 1994 season:

Imagine hitting better than Altuve, and with a lot more homers. In the biggest pitchers' park in the league.

For now.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Ash is explaining that the Astros can't afford to lose Altuve.  That's why they pay Ash the big bucks.

Ashby just went out on a limb and said it might be better for the Astros to win the division than the wild card.

HPU rang up springer for what appeared to be less than what was referred to the 3B with Tex up. Fortunately, Harris sat him down 2 pitches later.

Man, Fister's baby was extremely convenient.  With Gomez and Valbuena day-to-day, Fister not due to pitch till Monday anyways.  Trade deadline Sunday.  Being able to replace Fister with White on the 25 man for the next 3 days is perfect.

I stand corrected:

The #Astros have recalled IF Tyler White from Triple A and have placed IF Luis Valbuena on the 15-day DL with a right hamstring injury.

Dang, losing Valbuena for 15 days hurts.  Includes the next 3 game series with the Rangers

I wish we had caught Texas when they were really down which was about a 4, 5 week period. Instead we caught them during their hot streak when the Astros couldn't catch a cold  and they are starting to play pretty good ball again. And Darvish is back.

If we can't beat them, we don't deserve it anyway.

The pitching is sketchy enough that I'm not particularly optimistic about playoff chances this year. We need Martes and Rodgers to blossom so that they're viable rotation pieces next year and we won't have to watch Fiers anymore.
