The rules of distinction were thrown out with the baseball cap.  It does not lend itself to protocol.  It is found today on youth in homes, classrooms, even in fine restaurants.  Regardless of its other consequences, this is a breach against civility.  A civilized man should avoid this mania.

I think George is a better hitter when he leads off.

The stats show this to be true. Hinch is trying to get him to cut back on his swing and he thinks this may change his approach.
So, why wait this long? Altuve can hit anywhere.

I know bunting with men on 1st and 2nd with no outs has gone out of vogue, but this is a situation when I would definitely put the bunt on: down one in the fifth with Moran up. The downside is that Valbuena is up next

Another irrelevant side note: Matt Duffy with 2 homers and 5 RBI for Fresno

O'Day in
Kemp softly flies out to left
Springer with a hustling bloop double to right
Altuve long sac fly to center
Correa lines out to second.

Probably their best chance there.

Reports of Moran's strong zone awareness and plate discipline seem fictitious thus far.

Yeah, so far his ho-hum minor league stats seem like a pretty accurate predictor of his potential.

Astros smoke liners right at guys and the opposition trickles ground balls through open gaps left by the shift. Advanced analytics hell.

With the way Feliz and Giles have started pitching this bullpen is phenominal.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

More of a rich man's Chris Truby. Let's give it some time. He may be a wash-out but they need to know what he brings to this level. He could also be something worthy of the hype. His performance since he's been here hasn't been that far off of more established players. But I'm not seeing anything that excites me like I do in Kemp for example. But even when I saw Moran in AA he is a bit of stiff. Not particularly athletic but can handle the bat. The pitching he has seen so far is a couple of levels above what he has seen.

That is what I am talking about.  I have not seen him, but a lot of the reports seem to be wondering why all the hype.  And he looks totally lost in Houston, both at the plate and at third.

My problem with this particular union is that they shouldn't get a say in what technology gets introduced.  If MLB wants to use QuesTec for balls and strikes, how the hell can the union overrule that?  There would still be a home plate umpire.

Another irrelevant side note: Matt Duffy with 2 homers and 5 RBI for Fresno

O'Day in
Kemp softly flies out to left
Springer with a hustling bloop double to right
Altuve long sac fly to center
Correa lines out to second.

Probably their best chance there.

not a sac fly unless a run scores.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

I used to keep score back in the day, but I've forgotten a lot of the rules.  How is it ruled?  Is that considered an AB for the hitter?

yes, of course. it is just a fly ball out unless a run scores on it.

Do we know for a fact that they could overrule it? It doesn't make sense to me that they'd have that power. Why on earth, and when, would the umpires have been empowered with veto authority over rules changes?
