Marwin finally getting a start, wish Valbuena was who he was replacing though.

Tucker, one of the only guys actually hitting, sits once again.

From Tags;
Marwin Gonzalez, starting today at 1B, is 8-for-14 with a homer in his career versus Iwakuma.

McHugh continues the effort to lower the first inning ERA one run at a time.

Couple doubles (Castro Altuve) and and some singles bring in 2.   3-1 Astros

McHugh gives one back on a 2 out double followed by Cano single.  3-2

As an aside, it's been a long time since I've seen a more gutless bunch than this edition of the Rockets.

Gomez drilled, Tucker in to run for him.  Marwin slaps on to the left but hags turn 2 on it, Malbuena Ks.

Regardless of his frustrating play as an Astro so far I felt horrible for Gomez. It looked bad. Hopefully tomorrow brings good news both with the scoreboard and an X-ray. I'd rather Gomez have his fate decided on the field.

I thought it hit more of the near-finger meat of the right palm. Might just be a bad bruise rather than a fracture.

I guess all the usuals are currently under the thrall of the Rockets. That or they went to bed shortly after a four o'clock supper at Luby's.

The Rockets are the only thing that makes me flip channels faster than a first inning Astros meltdown. They need to just start over, at the highest level possible.

Gattis hits a baseball as hard as physically possible, and the Astros fuck up on the bases again. At least get 2 runs out of it.

To elaborate, Gattis hits a line drive off the wall. Two runners score. Rasmus gets caught between 3rd and home and is tagged out.

Gattis had to really fight himself to keep from hacking at the trash, but it ended up being an impressive AB. What the fuck was Rasmus doing?

Giles really bailed out a shit play by Valbuena. After a BB and a shift aided single, Giles puts his foot down, with no help from Valbuena blowing an easy DP.

Shaky, but sufficient ninth by Gregerson. Astros win 7-4.

I don't think Tucker can succeed without getting regular at bats. I know he hit a few PH homers off the bench last year, but overall he looked a lot better when he was in the lineup. Everybody can't be Marwin.

You're absolutely right. One of the hardest things to do is come off of the bench cold and hit.
