I guess we should be thankful the game's not in Houston. Young would be guaranteed to have 4 hits and 5 RBI all by himself, and I'm not sure the Astros will be able to score 5 runs in this game.

Kruk is already splooging over the Yankees..."this is a team that nobody thought could get here..."

Of course not, why would anyone expect a $1B payroll team make the playoffs?

No kidding..  Costs per win of the 2015 MLB playoff teams Chart Link

1. Dodgers $3.379M
2. Yankees $2.515M
10. Astros $936K

It appears to be getting in the hitters' way too.  They're lost on that curveball.

I scheduled a conference call for 11:00, thinking four hours should be sufficient.  But with Tanaka and ESPN, no fucking way this gets done before midnight.

T4:

Gomez homers to LF on the first pitch
Valbuena...down 0-2...strikes out swinging
Carter walks
Castro...swings at a bouncer...takes a hanger...down 0-2...grounds into 3-6-1 as Castro jogs down the line

But the Astros tack on another...lead 2-0

I think somebody else already said it, but Altuve will never see a better pitch to hit than the one he grounded out on with the bases loaded. Of course, that may have been the problem; perhaps if they had thrown him a worse pitch...

How soon can we get a petition together to keep him up there?

I think Luhnow should be on the phone with his agent asking what it would take to bring him to Houston.

I'd vote for putting him in the booth every time he's supposed to face the Astros.

They just lost the best announcer.
I've given up on announcers. For the last couple of years, it's been a jazz accompaniment to sports. Tonight: Charlie Mingus
He breezed him, one more time!

Young grounds into FC, Gregorius out 6-4 on a nice play by Correa, but can't get the speedy Young
Beltran singles to CF, Young to 2B

Hinch out...Keuchel will stay in the game

Can the umpires remove a player from the game for a slide like that solely intended to hurt the player?

It wasn't intended to hurt anyone.

@si_mlb: Excellent range to his left by Correa on that groundball, something most Yankees fans have never seen from a shortstop.

T7:

Valbuena...full count...fouls off a few pitches...grounds out 3U

That's it for Wilson, Betances in

Carter...3-1...walks...Villar in to run for Carter
Castro...1-0...swings at ball 2....swings at ball 3...takes strikes three as Villar steals 2B
Altuve singles to LF, Villar scores
Altuve steals 2B
Springer grounds out 4-3

At the stretch...3-0 Astros

Kris is beautiful.

Exactly. That's why I assumed his original comment was intended to mention Kruk, not Kris.

Sipp in...

McCann...full count...flies out F8
Headley...3-0...3-1...walks

White knuckle time now.

I was slightly less stressed when the cy young strong contender who had only given up a few hits was on the mound, but Sipp battled and made key pitches.

Harris in the 8th and then Luke?
He breezed him, one more time!

I think Gregorius leads off the bottom of the 8th, so they might use Perez, and then go to Harris. Although I think Gardner is after Gregorius. And they've still got Ellsbury on the bench to pinch-hit against righties.

I used to shop at PC Richard and Son. In fact, I got a window fan from them. It was pretty fancy. It had an intake fan and an outtake fan so you could circulate the air. It circulated the hell out of the bus fumes from the 61 that stopped under my living room window. They changed that route number I noticed recently. I don't remember what they changed it to, nor do I know why.

Well, they've faced Keuchel twice before this:
7 3 0 0 0 9 0
9 6 0 0 1 12 0

and now you can add
6 3 0 0 1 7 0

That's 22 inning 12 hits 1 walk, 28 strikeouts and 0 runs

Hey now. At my worst I'm a lot prettier than Kruk.
This summer I got to talk to a guy for a while who played with Kruk a couple of years on the Phillies. He told me that on more than one occasion he walked in on him in the locker room shirtless. Eating a hot dog. Reclined. Ketchup on his gut. Dipping that hot dog on the ketchup.

I saw a brief comment from him in the video from the celebrations after the last game of the regular season.
I think I saw something 2-3 weeks ago from him saying he was going to maintain media silence while the season wound down.

Congratulations to them for sure!

That was epic. At Yank-me stadium and we sent em' home! The Astro crowd that hung around after the win was pretty damn big and enthusiastic. I ran in to quite a few good conversations with Yankee fans, and generally had a good time talking baseball with them.

It McHugh proud to be an astros fan
Remember Jesus Alou being called out of the 1st base coaching box to pinch-hit a double vs. the Reds in '79 I think, to win a crucial game, and he patted Morgan on top of the head (ala Benny Hill w/the little bald guy) and Little Joe got pissed.....yeah,that was great.
